Job Description
This role will be based in Mountain View, CA.

The work location of this role is hybrid, meaning it will be performed both from home and from a LinkedIn office on select days, as determined by the business needs of the team.
As part of our world-class software engineering team, you will be at the forefront of revolutionizing how our systems and applications perform and operate. You will be charged with building the next-generation infrastructure and platforms for LinkedIn, including but not limited to: an application and service delivery platform, massively scalable data storage and replication systems, cutting-edge search platform, best-in-class AI platform, experimentation platform, privacy and compliance platform etc.
You will work and learn among the best, putting to use your passion for distributed technologies and algorithms, API design and systems design, and your passion for writing code that performs at an extreme scale. LinkedIn has already pioneered well-known open-source infrastructure projects like Apache Kafka, Pinot, Azkaban, Samza, Venice, Datahub, Feather, etc. We also work with industry-standard open-source infrastructure products like Kubernetes, GRPC, and GraphQL - come join our infrastructure teams and share the knowledge with a broader community while making a real impact within our company.
We are looking for a Senior Engineering Manager who will develop strategies and build systems to manage infrastructure capacity. Additionally, you will lead teams that drive LinkedIn’s capacity management infrastructure, ensuring the efficient delivery of long-term and annual capacity forecasts. This role is pivotal in providing clear, data-driven predictability for finance and capacity fulfillment teams, empowering LinkedIn’s infrastructure to operate at massive scale. By collaborating closely with engineering teams across the company, this leader will ensure high availability while enabling informed and strategic decisions around infrastructure costs.
This team makes a significant impact by ensuring we meet traffic demands from over a billion members, all while optimizing resource costs. The work you lead will support the stability, scalability, and efficiency of LinkedIn’s private cloud infrastructure, driving critical business outcomes.
Responsibilities:
Develop strategy, build roadmap and execute for the capacity infrastructure team.
Coach, mentor, develop career and grow talent within the team.
Identify problems and opportunities & deliver impact by driving innovation while building and shipping software at scale.
Actively improve the level of craftsmanship at LinkedIn by developing best practices and defining best strategies.
Work closely with partners regularly to help define roadmap.
Resolve conflicts between teams within the organization to get alignment and build team culture.
Manage teams to scale distributed applications, make architectural trade-offs applying synchronous and asynchronous design patterns, review code, and deliver with speediness and quality.
Basic Qualifications
• BA/BS Degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• 3+ years of experience in software engineering/technical management and people management.
• 7+ years of industry experience in software design, development, and large-scale software engineering
• Experience programming in object-oriented and/or functional programming languages(like Java/CPP/Scala/etc.)
• Hands on experience developing distributed systems, databases, large scale data systems and/or Backend API's
Preferred Qualifications
MS or PhD in Computer Science or related technical discipline
4+ years of software engineering management experience
2+ years exp managing managers

The pay range for this role is $180,000 to $300,000. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location. This may be different in other locations due to differences in the cost of labor.
