WBTW News 13 is Myrtle Beach/Florence’s #1 rated news team on air and on digital, and a CBS Affiliate Station owned by Nexstar Media Inc. News 13 is looking for an energetic and engaging Weekend Morning Anchor/MMJ Reporter to lead our weekend morning team to continued success. We need a hands-on anchor/reporter who is ready to lead by example. You must be a team player and community minded. News 13 produces 4 hours of live newscasts on weekend mornings. The anchor is also the producer for the newscast. The Weekend Morning Anchor is a newsroom leader and primary presenter of news stories and other content for all platforms in a manner that is clear, engaging, and meaningful to news consumers. The Weekend Morning Anchor/MMJ reporter researches, writes, produces captures visual content and edits stories for multiple platforms. The person in this role is an MMJ Reporter typically 3 days of the week. In that role, the MMJ Reporter is expected to pitch daily story ideas, research and set up on camera interviews for the story, operate a video camera and live TVU unit, edit content and transmit content when working outside of the station. Overall, we're looking for a hard-working journalist with a positive attitude and a team-oriented, leadership nature who can connect with viewers and tell impactful stories here in Myrtle Beach/Florence. There will likely be a role affiliated with our new CTV App that is scheduled for launch end of 2nd Quarter.

The station also produces local content in a news share agreement with WFXB, the local FOX affiliate.   • Presents news stories and other content for Linear, Digital, CTV App, Social, and other platforms.

  • Ensures that all news content meets company standards for journalistic integrity and production quality.

  • Dynamic and compelling presenter and storyteller.

  • Writes and presents news stories clearly and concisely.

  • Produces newscasts and communicates clear direction with team members.

  • Assists in writing, copy editing, researching, and coordinating news programming and other content.

  • Acts as a field reporter/MMJ as assigned.

  • Conducts interviews with news personnel and others.

  • Responds to breaking news and other urgent newsrooms situations as required.

  • Participates in promotional activities including public appearances.

  • Performs special projects and other duties as assigned.

  • Edits video clips as assigned.

  • Writes content for the website and other digital platforms.

  • Interacts with viewers/users on social media sites.

Requirements & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience.

  • Fluency in English.

  • Excellent communication skills with a proven ability to communicate (written and oral), across all platforms and to ad lib when required.

  • Experience in news reporting or anchoring preferred.

  • Excellent news judgment with an expansive knowledge of local and national current events, history, newsmakers and issues.

  • Proficiency with computers, telephones, copiers, scanners, fax machines and other office equipment.

  • Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

  • Ability to effectively listen to fully understand problems and communicate with a team to shape a solution.

  • Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.

  • Flexibility to work any shift.

  • Performs other duties as assigned
