General Job Description
This is a professional position responsible for working cooperatively with faculty, staff, and administrators across the university to develop measurable plans that will yield meaningful results applicable to the improvement of student learning and effective university operations. Responsible for establishing and maintaining institutional effectiveness (IE) and assessment guidelines and best practices, providing design and measurement expertise to ensure the quality of IE practices throughout the university, and developing ongoing relationships with faculty, staff, and administrators who support a culture of continuous improvement. Works under limited supervision, with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Reports to the Director of Institutional Effectiveness.
Essential Job Functions
Establishes and maintains guidelines and standards for program assessment and related activities.
Maintains regular contact with faculty and staff involved in institutional effectiveness to provide feedback on strengths and weaknesses in IE plans, makes recommendations on evidence-based modifications, and carries out special projects as required.
Assists faculty, staff and administrators in developing, implementing and improving assessment outcomes.
Assists in reviewing and evaluating IE plans and reports for quality and effectiveness. Provides feedback to appropriate faculty, staff, and administrators.
Gathers data into manageable computer files using appropriate software. Uses available software to clean data files and streamline the data management process.
Analyzes data retrieved from reports and interprets analyses for internal and external audiences, including Core assessment.
Collaborates with campus offices to produce institutional data that will inform analysis of student learning outcomes and institutional effectiveness.
Provides assistance as required to faculty, staff, and administrators needing support with IE processes and the IE management system.
Participates in or leads faculty and staff development workshops to support IE processes.
Oversees and manages the university IE management systems; assists with user training and develops training materials as necessary.
Ensures effective communication between the university and relevant external agencies.
Prepares and presents oral presentations of research findings for internal and external audiences.
Collects, prepares, and archives written reports, materials, and information needed to document compliance. Disseminates information within the university and to external agencies as needed.
Analyzes data using spreadsheets and assessment software tools.
Acts on the director’s behalf in their absence.

Ability to plan, implement and evaluate programs, and make recommendations for improvement.
Ability to learn office and university-specific software.
Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
Ability to work collaboratively and build strategic relations with varied stakeholders.
Ability to set priorities and complete assignments on time, accurately, and with attention to detail.
Ability to accurately prepare and maintain records, files, and reports.
Ability to work with and maintain confidential information.
Ability to generate, review, analyze, summarize, and communicate technical information through effective written and public presentations.
Ability to work effectively within a complex organizational structure.
Ability to train others.
Physical Demands
Required Education
Bachelor’s degree is required.
Required Experience and Training
Three years of related experience with a focus on problem-solving and working with multi-functional teams is required.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree is preferred. Experience in program evaluation, assessment, measurement, research, analysis, change management, and higher education accreditation is preferred. Experience with assessment management systems is preferred.

This position is eligible for participation in the Teacher Retirement System of Texas ( TRS ) retirement plan, subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
