Position Details:

  • This is a hybrid position with the expectation to work in the office 4 days per week

  • Up to 20% travel required to other business locations

  • Compensation: $130,000 – 160,000 per year.

Position Scope:

A core function of the IT department within Core-Mark is to design, develop and support our suite of IBMi (AS400) applications, primarily the custom developed Distribution Center Management System (DCMS) and related interfaces. DCMS is at the heart of the company in terms of Supply Chain, Warehouse Management, Customer Billing, Inventory, and interfaces with financial systems (SAP FICO and BW) and other custom and packaged systems.

The Sr Solution Architect is responsible for designing, supporting and collaborating with other colleagues with the core responsibility of leading the business requirement and designing and playing integration lead for applications on IBMi (AS400) while supporting the wider company business. New development is done in entirely Free Format RPG. However, the desired candidate needs to be proficient in RPG III & IV for the design of enhancements of older programs still used in production. SQLRPGLE is also used throughout new application development.

Responsibilities

  • Design IBMi systems (RPG IV, RPG Free, RPGLE, SQLRPGLE, ILE, CLLE)

  • Perform hands-on solution design, solution architecture, architecture roadmaps, prototyping, proof-of-concepts, and development tasks as required to support projects and programs as requested.

  • Provide solution architecture for projects and programs that are focused on processes, systems, applications, and technologies in areas such as Order Processing, Billing and Warehousing solutions.

  • Act as a liaison between CoreMark IT and business teams, as well as with 3 rd Party Applications team (On-Prem / Cloud/ SAAS) to drive architecture solutions.

  • Learn to develop clear options, measures of performance, and assessments for solution architecture to the project and program teams as required.

  • Document and proficiently explain complex architecture to technical and functional peers and as needed, to other levels of the organization.

  • Participate in Solution Architecture reviews with program and program teams prior to design and development activities and ensure the solution is scalable, is aligned with internal Enterprise roadmaps and meets the business requirements.

  • Participate in subsequent reviews of agreed architecture at critical project phases.

Required Qualifications:

• 15+ years of experience with systems process design and improvement; experience in developing integrated solutions involving process, data, and technology.

• Minimum of 15 years of experience with IBMi Series (AS400) development.

• Minimum of 15 years of experience utilizing RPG/ILE/Free-format, CLLE, IBMi/SQL including embedded SQL in RPGLE programs, DDL structure, DDS, Subfiles, and index structures.

• Experience with ILE concepts including but not limited to Procedures, Modules and Service Programs.

• Excellent hardware and software troubleshooting skills and experience in IBM Power systems (IBMi/iSeries/AS400).

• Demonstrated advanced knowledge of SAP or ERP integration for transactional & master data.

• An expert understanding of Order Booking, Billing, Inventory and warehousing in a whole distribution business segment is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Computer Science, MIS or equivalent experience.

• Familiarity with SEQUEL, ARCAD, IBM WebSphere MQ, IBM Rational Application Developer for WebSphere, Object Oriented (OO) concepts and Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) would be a plus.

• Experience with Java, REST/SOAP API Web Services is a plus.

• Experience with MIMIX and/or other high-availability and disaster recover tools and processes in an IBMi environment.
