Munich Re America Services, Inc. seeks a Data Engineering Lead for its New York, NY location.Duties: Lead the design and development of comprehensive data architecture solutions using Azure and Databricks, ensuring they align with business goals and industry best practices. Design and implement robust data ingestion pipelines from a variety of sources into Azure data storage solutions, using tools like Azure Data Factory, Azure Apps, and custom scripts. Use indepth technical knowledge of computer systems architecture to architect solutions that meet business and IT needs. Create and modernize Data Platform, Data Analytics and Al roadmaps, and ensure long term technical viability of new deployments. Design and deploy dynamically scalable, available, fault-tolerant, and reliable applications. Infuse key analytics and Al technologies where appropriate (e.g. Azure Databricks, MLFlow, Azure ML, Cognitive Services, Big Data, Data Lake etc.). Architect Azure DevOps pipelines to drive all docker container builds out to the Container registry and then deployed to Azure Kubernetes/Azure Web Apps for containers. Develop complex data transformation workflows within Databricks, leveraging Apache Spark, for data cleansing, enrichment, and feature engineering. Define and implement advanced data models and schemas that support both batch and real-time data processing, optimizing for performance and scalability. Collaborate with data science and analytics teams, providing guidance on data engineering best practices. Mentor and coach junior data engineers. Contribute to the long-term data strategy and roadmap, ensuring it aligns with the organization's evolving needs. Create and maintain detailed documentation of data architecture, pipeline configurations, and best practices. Promote and enforce best practices across the team. Lead the design and development of end-to-end MLOps pipelines that encompass model training, validation, deployment, monitoring, and maintenance, using Azure and Databricks as key components. Integrate Databricks for scalable and efficient model training, leveraging Apache Spark for distributed computing. Design and implement automated model deployment pipelines, ensuring seamless transition from development to production. Implement monitoring and alerting systems to track model performance, drift detection, and retraining triggers. Architect MLOps solutions that can scale to handle the growing number of models and data volume efficiently.Requirements: Master’s degree in Computer Science or a closely related field plus 3 years of experience as a Solution Architect, Data Architect, Technical Data Specialist, Programmer Analyst, Software Developer or closely related position. Must have 3 years of insurance industry experience implementing data warehousing and data analytics solutions including migrating from legacy data platforms. Candidate’s prior experience must include: Data extraction and transformation, database management, and data warehousing; Data Platform experience creating design documents, guidelines for development practices, and creating technical test practices; Advanced Analytics; and, Cloud Data Integration. May telecommute but must have ability to report to New York, NY office 2 times per week. Position requires approximately 5% domestic travel in Continental U.S., Canada, Brazil and Germany during key project meetings at the start of each project.
