Salary: $250,000 - $285,000

About Win - Women in Need

Win is dedicated to breaking the cycle of homelessness by providing transitional and supportive shelters for women-led families. Many of our families have escaped domestic violence and strive to keep their families together and safe. Win’s Income Building Program supports our clients by facilitating their transition from unemployment to employment and helping those already employed to improve their circumstances. This includes increasing wages, moving from part-time to full-time work, securing health benefits, and transitioning from off-the-books to on-the-books positions. Additionally, Win offers financial literacy workshops to equip our clients with essential skills such as budgeting, bill paying, and basic fiscal management. Win’s current operating budget is approximately $150 million, with $14 million raised privately through private and corporate funding, supporting programs and services including the Income Building Program and Camp Win.

Purpose of the Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Vice President (SVP) of Development. The SVP of Development plays a pivotal role at Win. The ideal candidate is a strong and resilient leader passionate about Win’s mission, vision, and values. This individual is responsible for driving the organization’s strategic growth and sustainability. The SVP of Development will collaborate closely with the President/CEO, Board of Directors, and other key stakeholders to forge new partnerships and enhance existing ones with donors, corporations, foundations, and volunteers. The SVP of Development will spearhead innovative fundraising campaigns and marketing initiatives, ensuring a robust pipeline of resources and supporters while cultivating future revenue streams. This candidate will be responsible for developing and nurturing a committed team of individuals, including hiring, coaching, and evaluating performance.

Key Accountabilities

Strategic Planning

  • Provide visionary leadership and strategic direction to ensure Win’s stability and long-term growth through a comprehensive fundraising plan.

  • Thoroughly understand our “Way to Win” platform and our vision for long-term sustained success for our clients.

  • Collaborate with senior leadership to develop and execute short and long-term growth strategies, identifying and leveraging development opportunities.

  • Develop and implement Win’s donor communication strategy, effectively engaging with major donors and board members.

  • Inspire, motivate, and mentor staff, driving processes to achieve strategic and tactical goals.

  • Maintain and expand Win’s development potential, building a sustainable philanthropic future.

  • Provide executive leadership to the volunteer services department, fostering stakeholder engagement.

  • Oversee a range of development strategies, including individual giving, major gifts, institutional giving, restricted and unrestricted funding, major campaigns, annual gala, special events, and creative donor engagement techniques.

  • Manage a portfolio of high-capacity prospects, maximizing donor and volunteer engagement.

Branding and Marketing

  • Coordinate branding efforts both internally and externally.

  • Expand branding strategy to support existing fundraising programs and organizational growth.

  • Understand, communicate, and embody the organization’s mission, vision, values, policies, and practices.

  • Maintain and update organizational brand standards and overall execution of the brand.

Donor Relations and Cultivation

  • Create, implement, manage, and assess a comprehensive donor relations plan to support the organization’s fundraising efforts, including responding to donor concerns and/or requests, gift acknowledgments, program information, and stewardship.

  • Foster a positive ongoing relationship with donors and ensure long-term relationships by maintaining contact and proactively educating donors on outcomes and results of Win’s efforts.

  • Design and implement growth and retention strategies with existing donors and identify opportunities to forge new donor relationships.

  • Plan and execute special events that engage donors and raise funds.

Revenue Development

  • Develop annual fundraising budgets. Identify, cultivate, solicit, and expand the number of individual annual, mid-level, and planned giving prospects and donors.

  • Seek out opportunities for sponsorships, grants, and partnerships that can contribute to new fundraising efforts.

  • Identify new opportunities to expand organizational funding from charitable or earned sources and design, plan, and lead successful new fundraising channel initiatives based on well-crafted strategies.

Data-Driven Approach

  • Establish a data-driven approach to future planning.

  • Evaluate strategies, measure performance, and continuously improve fundraising efforts by leveraging Salesforce to gain insights from donor behavior and financial data.

  • Provide analysis and reporting on the overall performance of fundraising against goals and strategic plans.

Essential Functions

  • Must have advanced knowledge of strategic planning, budgeting, donor relations and cultivation, metrics, and evaluation.

  • Must have superior relationship development and management skills.

Qualifications

  • Commitment to Win’s mission, vision, and values.

  • BA degree required plus ten (10) years of experience in a leadership role in fundraising.

  • Leadership experience in developing philanthropic growth, fundraising, and special events.

  • Proven success working in close partnership with a dynamic President/CEO and influential board members.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Public speaking experience.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Salesforce.
