Gannett Fleming TranSystems is seeking a Sr. Project Engineer / Project Manager - Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) to join our Transportation Operations Group in Long Island, NY.

What you will bring to our firm:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Civil or Electrical preferred) or a closely related discipline.

  • Active Professional Engineer (P.E.) licensure.

  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant engineering experience.

  • Proven experience with traffic signal systems and/or fiber optic communication system design.

  • Proficiency in CADD and/or MicroStation.

  • Expertise with Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Ability to travel throughout Long Island and conduct fieldwork as needed.

  • Experience managing project tasks and deliverables.

  • Strong interest in building a long-term career in Intelligent Transportation Systems.

What we prefer you bring:
  • Prior project management experience with ITS or traffic operations projects in New York.

  • Familiarity with New York State or local municipal standards.

  • Experience coordinating with utility companies and field installation teams.

Compensation:

The salary range for this position is $120,000 - $187,000 per year. Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location.

This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring regular attendance at our Long Island office.

As a Sr. Project Engineer / Project Manager - ITS, you will collaborate with a passionate team of transportation professionals focused on shaping the future of mobility across New York. In this role, you will:
  • Lead and support the design of ITS and traffic signal projects across Long Island and the greater New York region.

  • Oversee the development of project deliverables including plans, specifications, and cost estimates.

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate fiber optic communications systems and ITS field device integration.

  • Serve as a technical expert and project manager for transportation operations initiatives.

  • Manage project tasks, schedules, and budgets with minimal oversight.

  • Participate in client meetings and field reviews to ensure quality, accuracy, and client satisfaction.

  • Mentor junior staff and contribute to the development of our ITS practice.
