Job Title: Sr. CAD Engineer - Interiors, Injection Molding & WrappingJob Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Sr. CAD Engineer, Interior Door Trim to join our innovative team in Michigan. Our mission is to inspire the adoption of sustainable energy by creating captivating luxury electric vehicles centered around the human experience. Responsibilities

• Utilize CAD methodologies to create release part files, work on A-surface models, and apply knowledge-based engineering in Catia V6.

• Develop and design interior Door Trim components for premium vehicles.

• Recommend effective part interfaces from the industry that meet craftsmanship targets and benefit the customer at affordable costs.

• Interface with engineers from the full design phase, from the first sketch to the final component release and into production validation on vehicles.

• Ensure all geometric, technical, and validation requirements for each milestone delivery are analyzed and met, iterating improvements as applicable for changing markets.

• Collaborate with design studio, vehicle packaging, advanced engineering, manufacturing, simulation, and dimensional teams to develop optimal design solutions.

• Maintain bill of materials and provide pathways for cost reduction and manufacturing improvements.

• Work with the Crash Safety team to ensure the design meets homologation requirements.

Essential Skills

• 8+ years of experience as a detail-oriented CAD engineer in Interior Components and Systems, including applications on Interior Door Trim panels.

• Proficiency in creating complex CAD models in CATIA V6 quickly and efficiently while maintaining high standards in CAD part, tree, links, and publications.

• Expertise in geometrical dimensioning and tolerance, including applying tolerance targets to component locators, attachment methods, and overall gap and flushness requirements.

• In-depth knowledge of the automotive Interior Components and Systems industry, including benchmarks, trends, and supplier competencies.

• Experience with vehicle and product launches.

• Expertise in interior processes such as wrapping, injection molding, painting, compression molding, and other advanced manufacturing processes.

• Experience in the selection of polymers for the design of interior components.

• Strong engineering fundamentals to create innovative solutions.

• Experience in mold flow simulations.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Work ethic that results in the best solutions even in continuously changing and high-pressure situations.

• Experience with one full program cycle from concept to production launch in automotive instrument panels.

• Proficiency in modal analysis, finite element method analysis, and computer fluid dynamics.

• Ability to work effectively on a cross-functional team with diverse cultures and nationalities.

• Proficiency in a second language, such as Spanish or German.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $60.00/hr.
