Job Summary

The Director will work extensively with school district/division administrators and building principals to establish and maintain positive school-university relationships and provide high-quality placements for education candidates. The Director will secure preservice observation, practicum, and student teaching placements for approximately 1,500 students each year within the Hampton Roads region as well as across the Commonwealth and beyond. S/he will also coordinate the review and completion of college verification and licensure application packets.

Minimum Qualifications

Master’s degree in PK-12 education or a related field of study. Prior working experience as a teacher in PK-12 schools.

  • Some experience supervising staff to meet time sensitive deadlines and goals.

  • Some experience with regulatory agencies and policies.

  • Some prior experience in clinical field placements.

  • Considerable knowledge of initial and advanced teacher education licensure preparation programs, specifically in relation to coordination of clinical field placements.

  • Good communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills. Strong organizational, collaborative, and management skills.

  • Demonstrated history of taking initiative and working independently; able to problem solve situations proactively with limited supervision.

  • Demonstrated ability to maintain professional relationships, and the ability to deal effectively and tactfully with students, K-12 faculty and administrators, university faculty, and other internal/external constituents.

    Preferred Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree in PK-12 education or a related field of study is preferred.

  • VA teacher license (or equivalent from another state
