Mission Support and Test Services, LLC (MSTS) manages and operates the Nevada National Security Site (NNSS) for the U.S. National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA). Responsibilities

The Information Technology Directorate is looking for a high-performing individual to join our team as a Systems Administrator (Infrastructure Analyst II).

Ke y Res ponsibilities

• Manage and maintain the Server Operating Systems on classified, unclassified and Azure cloud networks.

• Manage and maintain Red Hat Linux servers in a large-scale enterprise environment.

• Coordinate patching efforts and remediate cyber vulnerabilities within server systems per established Service Level Agreements (SLAs).

• Support account provisioning and management activities in classified and unclassified environments to ensure compliance with all requirements.

• Assist in writing security plans, performing certification and accreditation tests to validate security policies are in place.

• Collaborate with more experienced technical personnel on medium and high complexity projects to design, install, implement new or modify existing systems.

• Utilize PowerShell, Ansible, and other automation technologies to improve processes and reduce support efforts.

• Support deployment of projects including racking all varieties of hardware, cabling, and OS.

• Engineer solutions in response to support requests and for improving internal processes and procedures.

• Report Key Performance Indicators, including capacity planning, system health.

• Create knowledge articles and other supporting documentation as needed.

• Participate in problem management and root cause analysis as needed.

• Resolve service desk tickets as assigned and maintain 24x7 availability for monitoring of enterprise systems as required.

• Serve as an escalation resource to Help Desk for resolving escalated tickets.

• Perform other duties as assigned by Management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a computer related field or equivalent training and experience with at least 2 years of relevant experience.

• Knowledge of technical principles, theories, standards, practices, and procedures.

• Knowledge equivalent to an RHCE, LPIC-2/3, 5 years' experience.

• Working level knowledge of, networking, virtualization, SAN, Cloud, and related technologies.

• Minimum of 2 years demonstrated experience in VMware vSphere.

• Working knowledge of Disaster Recovery practices.

• Enterprise working knowledge of Red Hat Products such as

• Red Hat Satellite Server

• Ansible Tower/Automation Platform

• Apache/NGinx Web Server

• Red Hat IDM

• Tomcat/WebLogic Middleware

• HaProxy Load Balancers

• Bind DNS

• GitLab

• Docker/Kubernetes

• Networking

• EMC storage

• Database systems such as Oracle, My SQL/MariaDB, Postgres

• Solid understanding of SOA architectures, core Linux system and solid services support.

• Understanding of complex networks and networking infrastructure as well as networking best practices.

• Must be a team player with good customer service skills and the ability to work flexible hours if required.

• Ensure to exhibit strong end-to-end troubleshooting skills.

• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

• Red Hat Certifications preferred.

• The primary work location will be at the Losee Road facility in North Las Vegas, Nevada.

• Work schedule options for this position include 4/10s and 5/8’s (subject to change).

• Participate in after-hours support pool. Requirements include evening and weekend availability.

• Pre-placement physical examination, which includes a drug screen, is required. MSTS maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.

• Must possess a valid driver’s license.

• MSTS is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. Applicants offered employment with MSTS are also subject to a federal background investigation to meet the requirements for access to classified information or matter if the duties of the position require a DOE security clearance. Substance abuse or illegal drug use, falsification of information, criminal activity, serious misconduct or other indicators of untrustworthiness can cause a clearance to be denied or terminated by DOE, resulting in the inability to perform the duties assigned and subsequent termination of employment.   Department of Energy Q Clearance (position will be cleared to this level). Hourly salary range for this position is:$35.26 - $52.89.

Starting salary is determined based on the position market value, the individual candidate education and experience and internal equity.
