Strata-G is seeking an experienced Application/Process Engineer with the following:

Summary:

The Application/Process Engineer will be a key member of client's technology team focused on the scale-up and commercialization of our novel BioLAN™ lignin-ABS composite blends. The individual will have lead responsibility for developing the compounding process to reproducibly and cost-effectively produce BioLAN™ compounds meeting customer requirements. The Application/Process Engineer will scale the process to commercial quantities and will transfer the process technology to toll converters as required. This individual will also be expected to have sufficient understanding of injection molding to work with injection molders to define preferred processing conditions and to assist in debugging customer molding challenges. This role will also be part of the BioLAN™ formulation team, responsible for providing compounding support for formulation trials.

Specific duties include:

  • Define preferred BioLAN™ process steps and conditions to reliably and cost-effectively produce BioLAN™ including equipment specification and configuration.

  • Define and execute process development experiments, including data analysis and documentation.

  • Coordinate compounding studies with outside partners and/or service providers.

  • Coordinate testing of samples produced in process and formulation studies.

  • Define scale-up requirements to facilitate production at commercial rates.

  • Define requirements for Prisma in-house polymer processing laboratory and participate in equipment specification, procurement and lab setup.

  • Support injection molding trials at partners and injection molding service providers as part of BioLAN™ product development'.

  • Monitor production compounding once BioLAN™ has launched with the customer.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Polymer Engineering or a closely related field.

  • Minimum 3 years experience of hands-on industrial thermoplastic twin screw extrusion compounding.

  • Process scale-up /technology transfer experience (preferred qualification).

  • Strong mechanical skills.

  • Working knowledge of thermoplastic injection molding.

  • Demonstrated experience in experimental design and execution.

  • Strong data analysis skills.

  • Six Sigma Green Belt (preferred qualification).

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Demonstrated track record of effective teamwork and collaboration.

  • Willingness to travel up to 20% time, with periods of up to 50% during key tech transfers or customer startups.
