This position is located at the Bridge Office in Oakdale and has the flexibility to work a hybrid schedule or work in the office. The incumbent will be required to make a telework arrangement with their supervisor. The incumbent is expected to work in the office on occasion.

The Bridge Alternative Delivery Engineer plays a critical role in providing technical guidance in the design of bridges and transportation structures for the State Highway System. This position is also responsible for overseeing the operations of the Bridge Office Alternative Delivery and Agreements Unit. The role includes managing and supervising the bridge-related aspects of all Design-Build projects, from the preparation of procurement documents during predesign to overseeing the administration of the Design-Build phase as required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Bridge Office Alternative Delivery and Agreements Unit.

  • Oversee the bridge components of all Design-Build projects.

  • Manage the predesign phase, including the preparation of procurement documents for Design-Build projects.

  • Administer the Design-Build phase, providing guidance and resolving issues as needed to ensure project success.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure technical accuracy and alignment with agency standards.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Licensure as a professional civil engineer with the Minnesota Board of Architecture, Engineering, Land Surveying, Landscape Architecture, Geoscience, and Interior Design (AELSLAGID), or ability to obtain licensure through reciprocity. If obtaining licensure through comity (reciprocity), a temporary permit from AELSLAGID must be provided to MnDOT HR prior to starting employment.

AND

  • Three years of experience as an Engineer Senior or equivalent that demonstrates:

  • Experience in structural engineering or bridge design;

  • Experience using computer software for structural analysis or bridge design.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience interpreting contract language and specifications related to bridge design and construction in a design-build environment.
