Issues are rarely referred to the supervisor but are handled at the occurrence].Essential Duties:Transportation Engineer I:Answers technical and policy questions related to bridge inspection and maintains bridge inspection data; analyzes data and provides summariesAssists in the development of specifications for special bridge design details and projects.Assists with design, computer operations and plan preparation.Ensures compliance with National Bridge Inspection Standards.Inspects structures for impact damage and/or construction problems and may design emergency shoring to prevent collapse of damaged structures.Monitors consultant design contracts.Performs inspections, structural evaluations and analyses of bridges and related structures that have appraisal and condition ratings or are recommended for closure.Performs moderately complex structural analysis of bridge designsRecommends bridge replacement, bridge rehabilitation and repair of damaged bridges. Reviews designs and detailed drawings of bridges and related structures prepared by other engineers and technicians.Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.Transportation Engineer II:Assists districts with bridge inspection-related matters.Performs complex engineering design work such as development of layouts, sketches, plans, specifications, estimates and contracts.Schedules, assigns and oversees bridge inspection activities.Assists with design, computer operations and plan preparation.Designs complex bridge projects and performs specialized design.Develops and/or reviews engineering related documents, correspondence, reports and remediation plans.Ensures compliance with National Bridge Inspection Standards.Inspects structures for impact damage and/or construction problems and may design emergency shoring to prevent collapse of damaged structures.Performs complex structural analysis of bridge designs.Performs inspections, structural evaluations and analyses of bridges and related structures that have appraisal and condition ratings or are recommended for closure.
