Conagra Regulatory Affairs Specialist, Food Packaging in Omaha, Nebraska

We are looking for a Regulatory Affairs Specialist for Food Packaging to join our team in Omaha, Nebraska!

As the Regulatory Affairs Specialist for Food Packaging, reporting to the Sr Regulatory Affairs Specialist, you will identify and manage regulatory issues and opportunities. You will develop programs and/or processes to leverage regulations to benefit Conagra Brands. You will lead and support cross-functional project teams and communicate with all functional and operating groups on the identification of matters related to regulatory topics of importance to the enterprise.

Position Responsibilities

  • Support and collaborate with R&D, Quality Assurance, Food Safety, Supply Chain, Marketing, Sales, Procurement, and others to ensure regulatory compliance to protect human health, company and brand reputation, and shareholder value.

  • Serves as technical regulatory support and expert to internal and external business partners specifically related to emerging regulatory requirements and packaging-based initiatives.

  • Review and approve food packaging for compliance with existing and emerging food packaging laws.

  • Independently identify opportunities to use regulations and give Conagra Brands a competitive advantage in the marketplace.

  • Provide regulatory leadership and answer compliance-related questions regarding new and reformulated product concepts.

  • Identify and utilize internal and external resources to address strategic and tactical regulatory topics.

  • Communicate cross-functionally, where appropriate, regarding current and emerging regulatory issues, opportunities, and related impact on products and product technology.

  • Develop regulatory strategies in assigned areas that enable corporate growth and profitability.

  • Identify, develop, and implement programs to improve efficiencies, speed, and quality of regulatory responses and focus staff activities to meet departmental and business unit goals.

  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of FDA, USDA, and EPA regulations and works externally to help shape the regulatory environment.

  • Identify, develop, and maintain an external network of experts who can be used when challenging new regulatory compliance issues confront Conagra Brands.

  • Provide leadership in developing and supporting technical customer and consumer inquiries.

  • Provide continuous improvement and regulatory support to existing and creating new policies and procedures supporting compliance.

Position Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Packaging Science, Packaging Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science or related field.

  • 2+ years of food industry regulatory experience.

  • Knowledge of food safety and regulatory compliance in a food manufacturing environment including FDA and USDA regulations.

  • experience in state-level regulations such as CARB (California Air Resources Board) and California Prop 65.

  • Experience working with various quality and data management systems such as Oracle, PLM, FoodLogiQ, USDA PHIS database, and SAP.

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Products including Power BI.

  • Experience working with regulatory agencies and/or trade associations is a plus.

  • Ability to travel independently to external meetings and industry working groups as a responsible Conagra representative up to 25% of the time.

We require applicants for this role to be legally authorized to work in the United States without requiring employer sponsorship either now or in the future.

This position is usually in the office Monday - Thursday and remote on Fridays.
