Position Announcement

You'll oversee key academic counseling efforts, supervise a dedicated team, and collaborate across campus to implement data-driven, student-focused strategies. Summary of Responsibilities
• Organization Oversight: Develop, implement, and maintain structure and staffing to effectively accomplish goals and objectives in alignment with division and institutional priorities. Supervise staff including hiring, training, supervision, and performance management in accordance with institutional policies and performance expectations. Evaluate and assign advisor caseloads and implement innovative and impactful individual and group strategies to promote quality and consistent student services. Effectively handle student complaints as needed.
• Management of Student Caseload: Maintain an advising caseload up to 20% of a full-time academic counselor using predictive analytics, approved technology, and proactive outreach to improve retention. Onboard and guide students through enrollment, registration, career exploration, major selection, university processes, and campus resources. Assess placement scores and transfer credits within university guidelines. Counsel students in the development of meaningful educational plans, major exploration and confirmation, course selection, co-curricular opportunities, and basic needs. Monitor and apply research findings in academic counseling, student development, career trends, assessment, and student success. Participate in professional development activities and maintain advisor certification.
• Collaboration & Partnerships: Participate in many campus committees, working groups, and task forces related to recruitment, first-year initiatives, student retention, and completion. Collaborate with school/college advising centers and departments to keep current on curriculum, university/college processes, and first-year to department transition. Partner with colleagues in Academic Affairs and Student Affairs to improve student and staff outcomes.
• Data Analytics & Continuous Improvement: Within the framework of student success platform software, track and report data regarding a variety of student success measures. Using strategic goals and objectives, analyze institutional/unit assessment data regarding unit and employee effectiveness and outcomes and implement changes as needed. Effectively steward resources of the unit including fiscal management.
Qualifications / Licenses / Certifications
Graduation from an accredited institution with a master's degree in a related field plus three to five years of related experience for a minimum of nine years.
Preferred Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a master's degree in a directly related field plus progressively responsible professional experience in an academic counseling or student success related area in a higher education environment; two years related experience in supervision of employees; or a combination of any and four years' experience related to the Summary of Duties.
