Ethan G Inc., located in 1116 11th St. Turning Basin #1, Palacios, Texas 77465, Matagorda County is hiring, and has a seasonal need for 02 Fishers and Related Fishing Workers for temporary work from 04/01/2025 to 12/31/2025 off the coast of Texas in the Gulf of Mexico Zone EEZ aboard a shrimp fishing vessel or at the dock (land) at the employers address. Depending on the amount of catch, fishing grounds may be expanded.

Job Duties: Prepare trawler for fishing activities; using and placing nets into water and retrieving them; sorting and heading (removing head) shrimp using handheld tools such as knives; place shrimp in containers and ice down shrimp to preserve catch, mopping and cleaning work area and equipment.

Job pays $15.62 per hour. Overtime hours vary at Overtime rate of $23.43 per hour. Employer will pay prevailing wage or a % of the total catch profits (usually 30% to 35% split between crew of 3 to 4 maximum), whichever is greater. No Per Diem. Job pays every 2 weeks or at the return of a trip. Employer will use a single workweek as its standard for computing wages due. Employer will make all necessary deductions from paychecks required by law. In case of Advances, pay deductions will be reflected in Crew Settlement Sheet given with check.

3 months experience required in Shrimp Trawler Fishing. Workers must be able to work on a fishing trawler in slightly turbulent waters for periods longer than a couple of weeks. Must have knowledge of basic safety aboard a fishing trawler. Employer does not provide training for these positions.

No minimum education required. Full-Time position up to 48 hours per week. Monday through Saturday, schedules vary and are day to early evening shifts between the hours of 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM with a 1-hour break in between an 8-hour shift. Trips out to fish may be several weeks to several months depending on the catch.

Employer provides food and lodging in the shrimp boat vessel free of charge to workers (optional to workers). Employer will provide the workers at no charge all tools, supplies, and equipment required to perform the job. If the workers complete 50% of the work contract period, the employer will reimburse the worker for transportation and subsistence from the place of recruitment to the place of work. Upon completion of the work contract or where the worker is dismissed earlier, employer will provide or pay for the workers reasonable costs of return transportation and subsistence back home or to the place the worker originally departed to work, except where the worker would return due to subsequent employment with another employer. The amount of transportation payment or reimbursement will be equal to the most economical and reasonable common carrier for the distances involved. Daily subsistence will be provided at a rate of $15.88 per day during travel to a maximum of $59 per day with receipts. Employer guarantees to offer work for hours equal to at least three-fourths of the workdays in each 12-week period of the total employment period. Employer will reimburse foreign workers in the first workweek for all visa processing, border crossing, and related fees, including those mandated by the government incurred by the foreign worker.
