What you’ll do as a Senior Lease Accountant

  • Review and analyze lease contracts and enter and/or approve leases in Costar

  • Ensure new, modified, and terminated leases are identified, entered, and approved in Costar for timely preparation of lease journal entries

  • Assist with the month end close process including subledger work in CoStar and FAS and internal and external financial reporting deliverables including roll forwards, footnotes and controls

  • Assist with review and monitoring of balance sheet, profit and loss and general ledger lease account to Costar monthly reconciliations

  • Assist with month end close process related to FAS including running and tie out of monthly FAS reports

  • Identify risks and assist with process improvements, design, and implementation of controls in accordance with SOX

  • Support internal and external audits by providing documentation, explanations, and analysis as needed

  • Assist on projects, including process improvements and control initiatives, as well as system implementations

  • Assist with projects and Ad Hoc requests as needed

What you’ll need

  • To be 18 years of age or older

  • Authorization to work in the United States for this company

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting

  • 5-7 years of experience in corporate accounting, experience in lease and fixed assets accounting preferred

  • Strong knowledge of ASC842 Lease Accounting preferred

  • Highly self-motivated and directed; takes initiative

  • Strong written and oral communication skills

  • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities and keen attention to detail

  • A talent for creative thinking and problem solving

  • Ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment

  • Willingness to learn and grow

  • Technically competent with various software programs, including but not limited to Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio)

Additional qualifications

  • CPA preferred but not necessary
