Indian Health Service Custodial Worker Supervisor in Parker, Arizona

Summary The Custodial Worker Supervisor position is located at Parker Indian Health Center, Parker, Arizona. This position reports to the Infection Control/QA Department. The Parker Indian Health Center is a 17-bed hospital inpatient, a hospital based outpatient clinic, and ambulatory care, dental, optometry, podiatry, environmental health, community health nursing, preventive and social services, with emergency care provided on a 24-hour basis, 7 days a week and has four satellite clinics. Responsibilities Major Duties: Plans weekly and monthly work schedules and sequence of custodial operations for subordinates. Selects workers and assigns tasks to be performed. Maintains a continuous training program for Environmental Services personnel. Provides for facility distribution of hospital clean linen, Serves as a member of the Infection Control Committee, Safety Committee and acts as advisor on Environmental Services matter in relation to hospital programs. Prepares work order for repair or maintenance services for equipment and buildings. Performs duties of a custodial worker and/or motor vehicle operator supporting department staffing coverage. In accordance with 5 USC 3310; Custodial Worker positions are referred to as restricted positions, we must only refer qualified & available (veteran) preference eligible(s), if any. Screen-out Element: Ability To Lead Or Supervise-completing the following tasks: Assign work to subordinate staff, plan and distribute workload, inspect work in progress, train or instruct subordinate staff, and report to supervisor on status progress of work, initiate disciplinary actions for insubordinate behavior, initiate requests for personnel actions such as promotions and recruitment. Additional examples include: initiates or participates in review and improvement of work methods. Informs and instructs housekeeping personnel on new developments in housekeeping techniques and procedures. Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP). You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement. Education There are no education requirements. Federal Employees earn annual leave at a rate (4, 6 or 8 hours per pay period) which is based on the number of years they have served as a Federal employee. IHS may offer newly-appointed Federal employees credit for their directly related previous non-federal experience or active duty uniformed military service. This credited service can be used in determining the rate at which they earn annual leave. This position is not covered by a Bargaining Unit. This position has no promotion potential.
