Job Overview

Komatsu’s Manufacturing Engineering Internship Program provides manufacturing and mechanical engineering students the opportunity to gain first-hand experience in a highly structured learning environment. This 12-week program will offer interns: training, mentorship, and exposure to multiple areas within the manufacturing and engineering group.

Key Job Responsibilities

As an intern, you will shadow and work with experienced engineers on real projects, gaining valuable work experience.

The Manufacturing Engineering Internship Program offers a variety of opportunities related to facility layout / renovations, interaction with multiple groups, including: Manufacturing Operations, Materials, Quality, etc., and involvement in key manufacturing engineering projects.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Education:Actively enrolled in an Engineering Program (preferably Manufacturing or Mechanical) from a 4-year accredited college/university.

  • Must be able to apply their academic background to real business world experiences.

  • Strong mechanical reasoning skills.

  • Previous welding experience preferred.

  • Experience: Prior experience with work study programs, school or volunteer leadership roles, participated on teams or in clubs, professional organizations, etc. preferred.

  • Soft Skills: Must have Excellent written and verbal communications. Ability to multi-task, manage deadlines and easily adapt to new challenges and business working environment. Strong motivation to make contributions to Komatsu and strong motivation to drive results.

  • PC Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office specifically with Excel (Pivot Tables), Power Point (slide presentations, AutoCAD and other summary and analysis tools. Must demonstrate good analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Travel: Some travel may be required.

  • Possible opportunity for continued part-time work throughout the school year (up to 1,040 hours per year).
