We are seeking 219 horticultural workers to work in a nursery, focusing on planting trees, shrubs, field-grown nursery stock (3 gallons and greater), bare root nursery, annuals, perennials, and balled and burlapped plants. Please note that propagation duties are not included in this role. General Duties: - Record information about crops, such as pesticide use, yields, and costs. - Direct and monitor seasonal help during planting and harvesting. - Participate in the inspection, grading, sorting, storage, and post-harvest treatment of crops. - Harvest plants, transplant, pot, and label them. - Repair and maintain farm vehicles, implements, and mechanical equipment. - Set up and operate irrigation equipment. - Identify plants, pests, and weeds to decide on pesticide and fertilizer applications. - Clean work areas and maintain grounds and landscaping. - Sell and deliver plants and flowers to customers. - Regulate greenhouse conditions and manage indoor and outdoor irrigation systems. - Check plant leaves for color changes to detect insects or disease. - Provide information to the public regarding the selection, purchase, and care of products. - Maintain and repair irrigation and climate control systems. - Dig, cut, and transplant seedlings, cuttings, trees, and shrubs. - Record information about plants and their growth. - Maintain inventory and order materials as needed. - Dig, rake, and screen soil in preparation for planting. - Inspect plants and buds to assess quality. - Move containerized shrubs, plants, and trees using wheelbarrows, tractors, and electric carts. - Tie and package flowers, plants, shrubs, and trees for orders. - Haul and spread topsoil, fertilizer, peat moss, and other materials. - Repair farm buildings, fences, and other structures. - Plant, spray, weed, fertilize, water, and prune using gardening tools. - Operate tractors and other machinery for plowing, harrowing, fertilizing, and harvesting. - Load agricultural products onto trucks. - Licensed workers may be selected to drive employer vehicles for worker transport.
