Job Summary The Assistant Director, EOC and Investigations supports the University's institution-wide efforts to advance equal opportunity, equal access and affirmative action by developing, implementing, and managing practices and policies that create an environment and culture of inclusivity. Working with the Director EOC, this position is responsible for assisting with developing and disseminating nondiscrimination/affirmative action policies and procedures, and recommending corrective action as needed. In collaboration with appropriate university departments as well as external resources, maintains the program for monitoring university equal opportunity compliance, reviewing and revising compliance reporting as necessary. This position is responsible for hearing and investigating complaints of unlawful discrimination and harassment and for enforcing relevant regulations and policies on behalf of the university, coordinating with university resources dedicated to diversity and inclusion, overseeing conflict resolution of informal matters, and working directly with the Office of University Counsel. The Assistant Director manages the education and training for EOC/AA/Diversity component of the University's Equal Opportunity Ombudsperson program. This position ensures and maintains updates to the department's electronic and printed materials, ensures that federal and state compliance postings are current, and networks with other industry professionals through organizational memberships and affiliations to remain current with local, state and federal regulations.

Also responsible for advising supervisors, managers, and HR staff on matters pertaining to non-discrimination and the university's affirmative action policy, in relation to students, faculty, staff, and vendors.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience * Bachelor's degree * At least six years of related experience. * Must possess progressive leadership experience in the areas of equal opportunity compliance practices, policy development, investigations, report writing and enforcement. * Thorough understanding of EOC/AA/diversity employment practices. * Comprehensive knowledge of federal, state and local laws, regulations, and guidelines related to affirmative action and civil rights enforcement. * Must possess demonstrated solid conflict resolution skills and an ability to handle sensitive and confidential information, conduct complaint investigations and perform data analysis that demonstrates best practice processes and procedures. * Demonstrated ability to lead with both a decisive and consultative style, foster open communications, and proactively build positive relationships with faculty, staff, students, and diverse constituencies. * Must be a well-organized and self-directed individual who exhibits a high level of integrity that inspires trust and confidence. * Demonstrated experience working as a team player who contributes meaningful ideas, is adept at problem-solving, improving processes, and maintaining confi entiality. * An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered

Required Skills and Abilities * Ability to organize and manage multiple responsibilities effectively and timely * Understanding of legal terminology; strong writing skills, time management skills, and strategic thinking. The incumbent must possess the ability to evaluate credibility, maintain confidentiality, civility and professionalism. * Working knowledge of all applicable computer software, and management skills (including planning, negotiation, and communication skills).

Preferred * Juris Doctorate * Prior experience in higher education * Demonstrated ability to effectively train management on matters pertaining to EOC/AA/diversity policies, practices, and regulations.
