Job Title: Mechanical Estimator

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Estimator to join our team in Philadelphia, PA. The ideal candidate should have 10+ years of experience in commercial estimating, focusing on HVAC and plumbing projects ranging from $5 million to $50 million. Key responsibilities include performing takeoffs, interacting with clients, and reading/reviewing conceptual blueprints.

Responsibilities

  • Review and understand all project plans, requirements, and specifications.

  • Coordinate and supervise a team of estimators to develop large, multi-disciplinary estimates.

  • Determine labor and equipment costs.

  • Review and understand all bid documents and assess project risks.

  • Understand project logistics and project schedule.

  • Prepare bid packages and compare and analyze competitive subcontract and supplier bids.

  • Review quotes and estimates with Project Team and prepare recommendations.

  • Interface with clients, ensuring customer satisfaction.

  • Accurately develop cost models.

  • Track and report on current material and labor prices, including escalation.

  • Develop meaningful VE contributions to reduce price.

  • Reconcile quantity surveys with consultants and design team.

  • Identify escalation factors in marketplace for specific materials and labor rates.

  • Responsible for sound conceptual pricing assumptions with sound documentation for the basis of the estimate.

  • Ability to substantiate all aspects of final estimates.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of estimating experience.

  • Proficiency in On-Screen Takeoff.

  • Experience working for a mechanical contractor is highly desired.

Work Environment

This role involves a hybrid work schedule with three days in the office and two days at home. The Mechanical Estimator will work within an estimating team of about ten people. This is a client-facing role.
