Akdeniz Chemson Additives Inc Product and Process Systems Technician in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Job Duties:

Provide technical development and customization of calcium-zinc stabilizers and "boosters" for rigid PVC applications for the North American Market; attend customer meetings and site visits to generate interest in calcium-zinc solid stabilizers for rigid PVC and subsequent product development projects to gain new business. Conduct internal performance evaluations to develop new rigid PVC stabilizers using technical service equipment (parallel screw extruder, twin screw extruder, conical extruder, torque rheometer, macklow-smith plastometer, injection molding machine, etc.) and prepare customer presentations of associated data. Customer visits to participate in customer trials on newly developed calcium-zinc solid stabilizer and "booster" products to replace liquid tin stabilizers in rigid PVC. Perform calcium-zinc stabilizer granulation process optimization including: Evaluation of the newly installed Granulation Line equipment and processes for improvements to achieve higher throughput during granule production along with reduced waste and recycle. Establish quality control procedures to ensure quality of granule products. Troubleshoot issues and create missing protocols for new products and processes. Assist with startup and granulation process improvement associated with new granule business opportunities with newly developed product formulations requiring granule form. Provide calcium-zinc stabilizer high speed mixing process optimization for new rigid PVC calcium-zinc stabilizers (powder products) and development of test methods for quality control of production of these products, including: evaluation of the newly installed High Speed Calcium-Zinc Stabilizer Mixing Line equipment and processes for improvements to achieve higher throughput during powdered stabilizer production along with reduced waste and recycle; and participation with Production Department to oversee introduction of new solid stabilizers formulations and participate with Quality Department on subsequent evaluations for product quality prior to introduction into the market to ensure products are fit for purpose. Travel required to various unanticipated customer sites across North America approximately 5 days per month.

Requirements:

Must have two years experience as a Product and Process Systems Technician, and two years experience: providing technical development and customization of calcium-zinc stabilizers and "boosters" for rigid PVC applications; conducting internal performance evaluations to develop new rigid PVC stabilizers; establishing quality control procedures; high speed mixing of powder products; and troubleshooting issues and creation of mixing protocols for new products and processes.
