Summary

The Electric Vehicle Program Strategist Sr/Consultant on the Product Development & Strategy team is responsible for the creation and implementation of key electric transportation strategies and programs. This individual will research electric vehicle (EV) market trends, inform Customer to Grid Solutions (C2GS) strategic EV objectives, and develop proposals for customer-centric EV programs. Additionally, this individual will collaborate with teams within the organization on the oversight and management of these programs to ensure successful implementation and performance.

Minimum Requirements

Senior Analyst

  • Bachelors' degree in Engineering, Science, Information Technology or related field and 5 years of prior relevant experience in the technology, power and/or natural gas sectors with an understanding of regulatory, technical and business issues impacting the industry.

  • In lieu of Bachelor's degree, High School/GED plus 9 years directly related experience in the technology, power and/or natural gas sectors with an understanding of regulatory, technical and business issues impacting the industry including renewables, distributed energy and grid technologies.

  • Detailed knowledge and understanding of one or more emerging energy technologies and related business models, such as solar, energy storage, electric vehicles, energy management software platforms etc.

  • Experience collecting and analyzing data of medium to high complexity with multiple correlations and variables.

    Consultant

  • Bachelors' degree in Engineering, Science, Information Technology or related field and 8 years of prior relevant experience in the power and natural gas sectors with an understanding of regulatory, technical and business issues impacting the industry including renewables, distributed energy and grid technologies.

  • In lieu of Bachelor's degree, High School/GED plus 12 years directly related experience in the power and natural gas sectors with an understanding of regulatory, technical and business issues impacting the industry including renewables, distributed energy and grid technologies.

  • Detailed knowledge and understanding of one or more emerging energy technologies and related business models, such as solar, energy storage, electric vehicles, energy management software platforms etc.

Preferred Skills

Preferred Special Skills, Knowledge or Qualifications:

  • Experience with customer program development and implementation

  • Strong presentation, written and verbal communication skills with ability to convey complex or technical content for audiences with varying levels of technical knowledge

  • Knowledge of and experience with Microsoft Office suite, including Excel

  • Knowledge of electric transportation and electric vehicle technology

  • Foundational understanding of utility operations, rates and regulatory structures a plus

Major Responsibilities

  • Research market trends including residential and commercial EV adoption rates, technology innovation, and utility EV programs to inform strategy

  • Support implementation of customer EV programs, including program design, operation, and improvement with a focus on customer experience and innovation

  • Collaborate with teams across the enterprise to socialize EV market trends, reduce silos, and enhance the Company’s awareness and support of electric transportation and EV programs

  • Engage with customers and external stakeholders to showcase and garner support of the Company’s electric transportation effort

  • Manage customer energy innovation related projects, both directly and through collaboration with other internal and external groups through effective research, data and trend analysis.

  • Research and understand relevant technology trends and emerging business models, including early stage developments and impacts.

  • Prepare regular business updates on industry trends, emerging technologies and technology-enabled business models, focusing on the potential opportunities and threats for the Company.

  • Develop analytical and technical capabilities and expertise in areas which can include distributed generation, electric vehicles, energy storage and smart grid technologies, regulatory and policy issues.

  • Provide support and expertise in forecasting the business impacts of emerging technologies, and ensure these perspectives are factored into business case development.

  • Effectively interface and resolve project issues with departmental staff, other departments, regulatory agencies and other stakeholders to meet project requirements.

  • Maintain and foster business relationships with business units and vendors, participating in negotiations and evaluations to identify potential issues and risks.

  • Participate as Company representative in various forums, committees and working groups dealing with various energy innovation technical, policy and regulatory issues.

  • Demonstrates a continuous learning mindset and knowledge of pilot and proof of concept goals and processes. Able to contribute to the construction of a proof of concepts plan and test platform.

CIP Requirement:

This position requires Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) access consistent with North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) standards. The applicant considered for this role will be required to obtain and maintain CIP access for the duration of employment in this position. A full seven (7) year criminal history will be obtained through the pre-employment background check process (or, for current employees, through supplemental background check process) to fulfill the CIP access requirements. In addition, this position requires an additional background check every seven years to maintain access.

Flex Role:

This position is not required to be performed at a specific APS facility as long as adequate technology and a solid ergonomic set up are present. Pending agreement with leadership, employees hired into this role will be able to choose where they prefer to perform their work, but the ultimate decision is the company's. Employees will have two options to choose from:

  • APS office based: The employee prefers to work most of the time from an APS facility.

  • Home based: The employee prefers to work most of the time from his/her home.

*Employees in Flex roles are required to reside in Arizona (or NM for Four Corners-based employees). Role types are subject to change based on business need.
