Clinical Research Coordinator

 

The University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing is among the top schools of nursing in National Institute of Health funding. The School contributes to the University's mission to provide high quality education, clinical expertise, and rigorous research. The School of Nursing is seeking a Research Coordinator. This full-time Research Coordinator will be responsible for the conduct of a newly funded, large NIH-funded cancer research project for patients with hematologic malignancies.

A Master's or Bachelor's degree in a health-related field (e.g., nursing, psychology, social work) and one to three years of clinical research experience is required. Relevant experience may be substituted for degree.

This position will work in various clinical environments and may obligate you to meet specific health and safety requirements, including but not limited to screenings, providing proof of vaccination, and/or testing.

Job Summary

Prepares grant applications, manuscripts, Institutional Review Board (IRB) applications, research papers, and assists with complex research papers. Audits research studies, monitors study budgets, resolves complex data collection issues, and implements protocol-specific study recruitment plans. Trains staff and oversees student workers; leads team meetings. Monitors study budgets and orders supplies.

Essential Functions

Responsibilities, under the direction of the PI, include day-to-day operations of the project: assist in preparation of IRB and other regulatory body materials; overseeing student and staff screening, recruitment, and data collection and, in collaboration with the School's data management staff, overseeing data management and coordination of data and resource sharing; assist with development and maintenance of study materials (e.g., brochures, consent forms, reports). The research coordinator will also support the principal investigator in monitoring recruitment and retention through weekly reports to the PI and will participate in the scholarly dissemination of study findings, including literature searches and preparation of presentations, publications, and future grants.

Physical Effort

Requires ability to visualize computer, laptop, and iPad screens; use keyboard; and ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Must be able to travel between buildings within UPMC Hillman Cancer Center sites, University of Pittsburgh sites, and primary office in Victoria Building on the Pittsburgh campus.
