Director, Alumni Relations, Arts and Sciences

 

The Division of Philanthropic & Alumni Engagement (PAE) at the University of Pittsburgh is dedicated to fostering meaningful relationships with donors, alumni, and stakeholders, supporting the University's mission in education, research, and healthcare. We invite you to become a pivotal part of our team as the Director, Alumni Relations.

In this role, you will play an integral role within Pitt's Alumni Association (PAA), reporting to the Director, Constituent Relations.

The Director develops and implements comprehensive alumni engagement strategies for the Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences in alignment with the University of Pittsburgh Alumni Association's broader mission. This position serves as the primary liaison between the Dietrich School and central alumni relations, ensuring coordinated and strategic engagement of the school's alumni base.

Key responsibilities include:

Strategic Planning & Program Development:

  • Create and execute an annual engagement plan for Dietrich School alumni
  • Design programs that connect alumni with students, faculty, and research initiatives
  • Develop metrics and track engagement outcomes
  • Identify and cultivate alumni volunteer leaders
  • Collaborate with development officers to support philanthropic initiatives

Event Management:

  • Plan and execute school-specific alumni events (virtual and in-person)
  • Support relevant university-wide alumni programs
  • Coordinate faculty participation in alumni programming
  • Manage regional alumni gatherings for Dietrich School graduates
  • Support Homecoming and Reunion activities

Communications & Marketing:

  • Develop content for school-specific alumni communications
  • Contribute to alumni newsletters and social media
  • Identify and promote alumni success stories
  • Coordinate with central alumni communications team
  • Maintain alumni engagement calendar

Volunteer and Relationship Management:

  • Build and maintain relationships with key alumni volunteers
  • Support alumni advisory boards/committees, including BoV as appropriate
  • Facilitate alumni-student mentoring programs
  • Connect alumni with academic departments and programs
  • Collaborate with Pitt Alumni Association, career services and other entities as appropriate on alumni-student initiatives

Job Summary

Plans, implements, and manages alumni engagement and support programs. Leads data initiatives to drive retention, reactivation, and acquisition of engaged alumni and/or University donors.

Essential Functions

Ability to communicate and outreach via verbal and written platforms. Organize and execute events and programming. Ability to utilize and manage an alumni database. Ability to travel.

Physical Effort

Moderate physical effort is required to stand or move for several hours at a time. It may also be required to move objects up to 50 pounds with or without the assistance of equipment.
