ANCC Magnet designated UPMC Passavant is currently hiring a Full-Time Medical Assistant to support our Cancer Center at the McCandless location.
The Medical Assistant is a valued step in the career ladder, with opportunities for continued growth and advancement. Title and salary will be determined based upon education and patient care experience.
· Medical Assistant starting at $17.64/hour
· Medical Assistant, Senior starting at $17.84/hour
· Medical Assistant, Expert starting at $18.04/hour
Our Full-Time Medical Assistants typically work 40 hourseach week. There are no weekend or overnight requirements. Candidates with prior patient care experience are highly preferred and encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities:
Manage patient medical records in compliance with HIPAA and other regulations and maintain strict confidentiality related to medical records and other data.
Obtain and process lab/x-ray reports, hospital notes, and referral information.
Complete necessary forms and schedule appointments.
Verify insurance coverage and patient demographics.
Prepare and manage patient charts.
Perform front office tasks as needed.
Prepare and clean patient rooms and equipment according to protocols.
Maintain inventory and restock supplies.
Organize patient flow and assist patients with various needs.
Collect patient information, take vitals, and perform screenings.
Relay instructions to patients and families.
Answer calls and provide patient education.
Perform phlebotomy, EKGs, and basic lab tests.
Assist physicians with procedures and document patient information.
Comply with regulatory requirements (i.e., OSHA, CLIA, PA Department of Health) along with all UPMC Health System policies and procedures
Administer injectable medications and vaccines under supervision.
*Perform in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors.
*Perform other duties as assigned.
High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Must have basic computer skills and knowledge of medical terminology, examination, diagnostic, and treatment room responsibilities.
Licenses, Certifications, and Clearances:
CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.
