Post Doctoral Associate Med-Medicine - Pennsylvania-Pittsburgh - (25001037)
The Department of Medicine, Vascular Medicine Institute is seeking to hire a Postdoc Associate. The candidate will be responsible for independent research focused on designing 3D bioprinted resistance arteries for the study of hypertensive vascular disease and engineered proximal tubule kidney models. The goal is to create a reactive engineered vessel for disease modeling and regenerative medicine applications, as well as functional proximal tubule models. Daily tasks will involve cell culture, fluorescence microscopy, image analysis, 3D bioprinting, preparation of FRESH gelatin support bath, material characterization, and manuscript preparation. Additional responsibilities will include CAD of custom components, 3D printing of plastic, live cell fluorescence calcium imaging, tissue clearing, rheological characterization, and preparation of decellularized ECM. The chosen candidate will be expected to participate in laboratory maintenance and ordering of consumable supplies. These will be the duties in addition to any other duties as assigned by your lab PI, Dr. Daniel Shiwarski.
Minimum requirements: Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering or Material Science with a focus on Regenerative Medicine and experience in Bioprinting, Stem Cell Culture, and Tissue Engineering.
