JOB REQUIREMENTS: Position Summary: The University of Wisconsin-Platteville is seeking applicants for a position as Accountant I. The Accountant Iperforms general accounting duties such as preparing financial reports, assisting with budgeting, and ensuring the accurate recording and reporting of the business unit\'s financial transactions. This is a full-time, benefit and leave eligible position with a salary range of \$45,000 - \$53,000, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Responsibilities: Analyze, develop, and maintain accounting processes for monitoring and reporting on Foundation Assets. Monitor Income Statement and Balance Sheet reports to ensure accuracy. Initiate and oversee numerous transfers within accounts according to established Foundation guidelines. Assist with preparing budget and financial projections. Reconcile Raisers Edge database to Financial Edge Assist with annual independent audit and tax reporting. Oversight, review, and approve Accounts Payables (Fund Transaction Reports) for payment. Issue payments bi-weekly via ACH and/or check. Work with University Financial Services to process and pay chargebacks to ensure reconciliation between the entities. Monitor fund balances and ensure positive balances are maintained. Identify and reallocate expenses to appropriate funding strings. Create, mail and store end of year 1099 & 1096 tax statements. Manage scholarship payments and accounts. Review and approve financial transactions, identify errors, and recommend process improvements. Maintain records according to Records Retention and Destruction Policy. Generate periodic reports and other financial documents for the Foundation and for other University personnel. Respond to and work with university personnel to resolve any problems that may arise regarding Foundation accounts. Responsible for training staff on financial processes and best practices. Continually use and research ways to use the accounting packages to their fullest capabilities. Keep Foundation compliant by filing DFI report, WI non-stock Corp report and completing Dept of Reg & Licensing Report .
