The Work You Will Do:

This position assists the Education Coordinator and Volunteer Coordinator in the development, enhancement and attendance of public outreach events such as GTM Research Reserve’s monthly events (Family Seining, Guided Exploration Hikes, Guided Beach Hikes), festivals, and other community events.

This employee will be working with partnership organizations and community members and will work in close collaboration with the Reserve’s non-profit partner, the Friends of GTM Reserve.

    Pay:

    $18.00 per hour/24 hours per week

    Your Specific Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and attend, if necessary, public outreach events including festivals, community events and career fairs.

  • Facilitate communication with volunteers leading the monthly public outreach events.

  • Serve as lead for planning and developing public outreach activities and lessons.

  • Assist in coordinating onsite visits for community groups (e.g., 4-H Marine Ecology, scout groups, etc.)

  • Adapt to or perform other duties as assigned

    Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of educational programs

  • Experience working with students and public audiences of all ages

  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments and activities

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office software (such as Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel) and similar computer software

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Ability to deal with the public in a courteous and respectful manner

  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments

  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing

  • Ability to work weekends and outside of regular office hours

    Required or Preferred Qualifications:

    Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college; or a ny combination of post-secondary education or verifiable related experience, as described in this posting , for a total of four years.

    Experience working with students and public audiences of all ages

    Ability to successfully complete a background and fingerprint check

    Other Job-Related Requirements for this position:

    Maintain a valid Class E driver’s license
