What's the job?

The Shift Leader manages and leads a team of technicians as they manufacture some of CertainTeed’s highest quality and most innovative gypsum drywall products in North America.- The position reports into the Production Manager.- The essential activities include, but are not limited to, safety performance, quality, training, autonomous maintenance, continuous improvement, and productivity.

The Shift Leader must have strong leadership skills and be able to coach, train, and help drive accountability. Through leadership of cross-functional teams, the Shift Leader will prioritize team workload and drive continuous improvement in our training and certification. They will ensure compliance to all the highest standards related to safety, health, environmental, company, federal, and state regulations and laws.

This position must assure good housekeeping practices following 5S systems, enforce plant rules and safety regulations as well as all company polices including but not limited to all PPE, permits, JSAs, purchasing requirements and follow all safe work practices.

What do you bring?

A successful Shift Leader in manufacturing possesses a balance of technical knowledge, leadership abilities, and problem-solving skills. Continuous learning and staying updated on industry trends are also important for success in this role.

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related field from an accredited university or institution is or equivalent work experience.

• Three (3) to five (5) years manufacturing, teaching, coaching or military experience.

• One or more years of experience with LEAN manufacturing techniques.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with team members, managers, and upper management.

• Flexibility to adapt to changes in production schedules or unexpected challenges. Capacity to make informed decisions based on data and critical thinking and make timely decisions to keep production processes running smoothly.
