Responsibilities:

We seek to fill an opening for a Regional Senior Associate Director, in the Office of Undergraduate Admission. The regionally based Senior Associate Director of Admission is responsible for the following:

  • Read and evaluate applications for admission.

  • Serve as voting members of the Board of Admission.

  • Develop regional recruitment strategies.

  • Represent the university at high schools and community based organizations, admission workshops, college fairs, and Brown sponsored events in their primary territory, virtually and in-person.

    The Senior Associate Director directly manages junior staff who are in remote-based positions, serves as members of the senior leadership team, chairs admission committees, manages selected Providence-based projects pertaining to recruitment, evaluation and matriculation, and advises the Dean and Director on admission policies and strategies.

    The successful candidate must reside in one of the following regions: Atlanta GA, Houston TX, Los Angeles CA, Chicago IL, or Washington DC/MD/VA. Please indicate in your cover letter the region you would be able to reside in and cover.

    This is a three year, fixed-term position with an end date of 4/1/2028.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience

  • Required: Bachelor’s Degree

  • Ten years of experience in education/higher education fields, with 8 years of college admission experience at a highly selective institution

  • Preferable: experience as a regional admission officer

Job Competencies

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including strong writing, active listening and public speaking skills

  • Willingness to guide and mentor colleagues

  • Sensitivity to concerns of people of different ages and backgrounds

  • Willingness and ability to work both independently and with groups

  • Creativity, efficiency, flexibility, open-mindedness, good judgment

  • Ability to work long hours, including evenings and weekends

  • Ability to travel

  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills

  • First-hand knowledge of major issues facing American colleges and universities

  • Driver’s license

  • Understanding of Brown and its academic standards

  • Capacity to relate easily and appropriately with a broad range of people

  • Understanding of public relations and social media

  • Excellent record of leadership and professionalism

  • Excellent data research and analytical skills
