The Lead Estimator, along with the Senior Estimator develops accurate, timely and detailed cost estimates on large, complex heavy civil and mechanical construction projects for bid-build, design-build, and Engineer, Procure and Construct projects. The Lead Estimator will be responsible for accurate quantity surveys, preparation of subcontractor and vendor work scopes and quote analysis, and estimating the cost of self-perform work. The Lead Estimator will be a self-starter and work efficiently. The Lead Estimator must be able to meet critical deadlines and have the ability to work as part of a team. The Lead Estimator may be named as Pursuit Sponsor of a particular project, should the value require it.
Lead Estimator Qualifications:
Demonstrate proficiency with all HeavyBid and Estimating processes employed by Skanska Estimating including: Equipment Buy/Sell analysis, Sub vs Self Perform analysis, Holding Accounts, Quote System, Estimate closeout procedure, JV Estimates, @Risk, etc.
Proven experience managing an entire estimate of a moderate sized project under the supervision of a Senior Estimator or Estimating Manager
Coordinate closely with an Estimating Engineer to produce quantity takeoffs for use in preparing estimates.
Knowledge of cost-based risk analysis.
Proven ability to manage and direct junior estimating staff assigned to the pursuit and mentor a team.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Construction Management or equivalent experience and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience.
Minimum of 7 years of experience in estimating of projects in the discipline
