    Position Summary

    Reporting to Machine Shop Manager, the CNC (Computer Numerical Control) Machine Operator - I is responsible for the operation of CNC machines to produce Praxis products. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, have a willingness to learn, is able to work independently and as part of a team, and will be able to develop & maintain relationships.

    How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Learn mechanical principles of Praxis products and manufacturing to become technical expert/resource on Praxis parts and products fabricated in house

  • Manufacture parts by using industry-standard CNC machining techniques and practices such as drilling, grooving and cutting, facing, profiling, pocketing, turning, knurling, and threading

  • Obtain and record measurements using precision measurement tools such as micrometers, dial calipers, and height gages

  • Manufacture Particular Sinter Form (PSF) parts using CNC Lathes and Vertical Machining Centers

  • Set up CNC production machines

  • Complete set-up sheets

  • Identification of irregularities and recommend process improvements

  • Record production results

  • Replace worn tools

  • Support production operations to meet scheduled client commitments Conduct final inspections in support of manufacturing with high quality and efficiency, meeting all production deadlines

  • Regularly maintain production and escalate any issues for resolution

  • Accurately complete all required record sheets

  • Maintain compliance with Praxis’ Quality Management System

  • Responsible for ensuring equipment is clean and orderly

  • Ensure compliance with OSHA guidelines and applying best practices for on-the-job safety in a production environment

  • Adhere to quality assurance procedures and processes while maintaining an orderly production facility

  • Maintain a neat and orderly production facility

    What You Must Bring to This Role

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Machine trade or technical school certification

  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret documents including maintenance instructions, procedures, and manuals

  • Demonstrated success working with technical/mechanical devices

  • Proven ability to operate with computers, microscopes, and other tools

  • Experience in production operations, safety, and security protocols

  • A history of excellence in communication and active listening

  • Proven success working independently and in a team environment

  • Demonstrated comfort with basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and rounding

  • Demonstrated comfort with both verbal and written communication

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build personal and team-based relationships with all levels of associates -

  • Comfort with basic computer applications and data entry

  • Proven ability to calmly transition between multiple and changing priorities

  • Ability to work production shift schedule

  • Demonstrated experience working in a manufacturing environment

  • Ability to use a forklift with proper safety protocol

    Working Conditions & Physical Efforts

  • Work is performed in a Production environment

  • May be required to lift up to 50 lbs.

  • Ability to stand or sit for a prolonged period of time

  • Visual functions being those of near vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus

  • Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with leadership & clients

  • Finger dexterity is needed to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer keyboard or operate equipment

  • Low exposure to physical risk
