The Challenge
We are hiring an Entry-Level Traffic Analysis Technician to join our Traffic Survey team.
In this role, you will:
- Supports our Traffic Survey teams by performing technical tasks related to planning, processing, analyzing, and publishing traffic monitoring data to meet Federal Highway Administrations (FHWA) Highway Performance Monitoring System (HPMS) reporting requirements and to support NCDOT transportation planning activities to maintain our Traffic Monitoring System.
- Review and analyze short-term and continuous traffic monitoring data sets on a continuous basis.
- Process and analyze small to large traffic data sets and perform quality control/assurance.
- Evaluate traffic trends, investigate data issues, add/edit retiring station points, and communicate with team members to address traffic data collection and equipment performance and efficiency issues.
- Supply traffic monitoring data sets, including seasonal data, vehicle class data, annual average daily traffic data, and other information generated for individual and groups of traffic monitoring stations.
- Investigate and correct low to mid-level quality control issues throughout any of the traffic monitoring data sets and systems.
- Perform traffic station edits in Traffic Surveys operating applications.
- Respond to Traffic Data Requests and provide support to staff performing other functions as needed.
What You Bring
- Knowledge of general traffic monitoring concepts, the importance of traffic counts, and how traffic counts are used in transportation decision-making.
- Knowledge of statistics and the application of statistics to data analysis and quality control.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and perform tasks of low to high complexity, set short- and long-term goals, and to be able to prioritize work daily.
- Demonstrated ability to provide excellent and timely customer service by providing proper data sets to meet customer needs.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively use verbal and non-verbal skills to express routine or simple technical and/or program concepts and related facts in a clear, concise, organized, and persuasive manner.
Education and Experience
- Associate's degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Survey Technology, or a related curriculum; or
- An equivalent combination of training and experience.
