Job Purpose

Lead the effort to support and improve plant manufacturing operations by developing and implementing the capital plan, by guiding the Engineering Team in the completion of continuous improvement and capital projects, in the improvement of existing products/processes, and in the development and scale-up of new products/processes. Act as lead safety proponent for the Engineering department. Lead and develop direct reports to foster the growth of the engineering & technical staff.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Lead and develop direct reports in Engineering. Provide ongoing coaching for current performance, create plans for career and skills development. Oversee the leadership of Engineering Interns when utilized.

  • Provide technical support to all departments to facilitate efficient/effective use of resources (capital, manufacturing equipment, personnel). Work as a member of the Site Leadership Team to set and manage department priorities and training which support overall site goals.

  • Manage and direct Development Line to support global business groups.

  • Join business teams, operations and R&D in developing, validating and launching new products as well as supporting current manufacturing processes with a heavy emphasis on the customer.

  • Develop thorough knowledge/implementation of new technology/product strategies, balanced with leading the continuous improvement of existing processes, including automation, controls, MES. Lead the department in 6Sigma improvement (DMAIC, DOE, Lean Mfg, SPC, OEE, etc.), guiding the development and utilization of the team in this area.

  • Develop, prioritize and manage Capital Budget, and maintain acute knowledge and control of its contents, timeline and execution. Review and route for approval all site capital requests.

  • Act as the safety zealot for the Engineering Department as well as the entire facility. Drive safety initiatives throughout the facility and ensure equipment and processes are safe for our employees. Be the point person for contractor safety accountability for all capital project work.

  • Manage the plan and details for facilities improvements and support cost savings projects.

Knowledge / Skills / Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field

  • Minimum 5 years experience in project/process engineering

  • Previous leadership experience managing and directing a team of at least 5 direct reports

  • Detailed 6Sigma experience and knowledge, and ability to lead reports in these skills

  • Excellent communication both written and verbal as well as experience making presentations

  • Good interpersonal skills - Team Player

  • Mechanical aptitude including blueprint reading and detailed understanding of Industrial equipment/systems.

  • Organizational skills with an ability to manage multiple priorities

  • Proficiency in MS Office, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, MiniTab, CMMS.

  • Proven decision-making skills including problem identification, analysis and resolution.

  • Proven Leadership skills, and ability to design, plan, manage and complete projects as well as manage capital budgets with an understanding of cost accounting.

  • Ability to comprehend and apply quality engineering and technical principles and methods.

  • The salary range for this position is $92,035 - $115,040. Factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, job-related skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and business considerations may influence base pay offered. This salary will be subject to a geographic adjustment (according to a specific city and state), if an authorization is granted to work outside of the location listed in this posting.
