Your Opportunity
Stantec is seeking an Environmental Planner to join our Environmental Services Practice working within our Northern California region. The position is to be based out of our Sacramento, Roseville, Nevada City, Chico, or Redding Office; geographic alignment with other Stantec offices will be considered based on experience. Your Key Responsibilities
Provide land use planning knowledge to support environmental review needs for public and private projects. Task duties may include environmental permitting, preparation of technical study reports supporting a range of infrastructure projects, environmental impact analysis support, CEQA and or NEPA support, municipal zoning ordinance review, and land use planning and coordination for environmental projects. Experience with the review and development of project descriptions/scope of work, familiarity with environmental review processes, permitting assessment process, and a general understanding of local municipal planning and/or environmental constraints within the northern California region is required.
Contribute to and manage multi-disciplinary project teams consisting of internal staff, as well as subcontractors, in all phases of the execution and delivery of environmental compliance and permitting requirements for a wide range of infrastructure projects.
Show strong skills as a self-starter, with ability to participate on multiple projects simultaneously. Experience with the delivery of task orders under on-call contracts, local agency projects through the Caltrans Local Assistance Program, familiarity with the Caltrans Standard Environmental Reference, CEQA and NEPA environmental review processes, and permitting assessment process is strongly desired.
Support business development through the building professional relationships, preparation of responses to proposal solicitations and participation in outreach efforts.

Show attention to detail, strong skills as a self-starter, and an ability to participate in multiple projects simultaneously, and an ability to work in a fast-paced environment. This role will also include support to project management teams on dynamic projects.
Qualifications
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Strong research, analysis, and reporting abilities.
Self-directed, excellent attention to detail and quality review of work.
Capability to manage large data sets.
Ability to work on fast-paced dynamic projects and think critically to solve problems in a creative or efficient manner.
Self-starting, team-oriented professional with excellent written and communication skills.
Familiar with review and analysis of scientific data, maps, and drawings.
Familiarity and experience with permitting and CEQA/NEPA.
Must have good driving record and valid driver's license.
Preferred
NEPA experience
Caltrans Experience (Capital and Local Assistance)
CWA 404/401 permitting
CA Fish and Wildlife 1600 permitting experience
Ability to identify opportunities and build relationships with clients
Proficiency with MS Excel is a plus. Ability to work with multiple disciplines is preferred.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management/Planning, Biology, Land Use Planning, Environmental Science, Environmental Studies or a related field. 3-5 years of experience performing environmental planning and permitting work for California infrastructure clients, including local agencies and Caltrans.

Salary Range(s):
- $37 Per Hour - $53 Per Hour Min/Max Pay Range for postings located in CA (SF Area includes SF, SJS & WLC)
The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
