ICF Technical Writer in Reston, Virginia

Description

We seek a technical writer to support agile product teams developing enterprise applications for federal clients. You will join a team of human-centered designers, researchers, and content professionals collaborating across functions to create products that are useful, intuitive, and satisfying, while driving the team's efforts to generate audience-centered content.

The ideal candidate will create online help & job aids, onboarding content, technical and process documentation, and supporting some client-owned content in the federal healthcare policy and administration domain.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work to support the vision and strategy established by project leadership in alignment with business objectives.

  • Collaborate with subject matter experts, team members, and stakeholders to collect and understand technical source material.

  • Facilitate content strategy and information architecture decisions.

  • Author job aids, help articles, infographics, videos, and learning experiences that integrate seamlessly with product experiences and contribute to business objectives.

  • Create deliverables with an iterative and audience-centered approach to draft, revise, and edit communication deliverables with input from users, colleagues, and stakeholders.

  • Manage draft, approval, and publishing processes through content management systems, (i.e. RoboHelp).

  • Clearly communicate content strategy, development approach, and rationale of decisions with internal and external stakeholders.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in English, Technical Communication, or related field.

  • 3+ years of relevant technical writing or communication experience.

  • Candidate must reside in the US, be authorized to work in the US, and work must be performed in the US.

  • Candidate must be eligible for public trust.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Able to provide a portfolio of work products demonstrating your approach and deliverables.

  • Knowledge of WCAG 2.0 Level AA / Section 508 and Plain Language Act compliance preferred.

  • Experience in federal contracting or healthcare IT preferred.

  • Experience supporting localization and translation efforts.

Professional Skills

  • Complete tasks effectively and on schedule as part of a broader development team.

  • Participate in an Agile process to learn quickly and iterate on deliverables.

  • Able to work within client content style guides and comply with Plain Language Act guidelines.

  • Strong skills with content authoring tools and content management systems.

  • Ability to work successfully with a cross-functional, diverse, and distributed remote development team.

Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position.

The pay range for this position based on full-time employment is:

$52,488.00 - $89,230.00
