About ICF’s Transportation Practice

ICF’s Transportation Practice specializes in addressing complex planning, policy, and program issues at the nexus of transportation and the environment, energy, and communities. ICF’s work focuses on integrated approaches that support sustainable transportation decisions, addressing mobility, safety, and environmental, social, and economic effects of transportation. Our work includes strategic planning, research, policy analysis, outreach, training, and program evaluation for Federal, State, and local governments, including the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT), the Transportation Research Board (TRB), state transportation and environmental agencies, and metropolitan `planning organizations. Our work often includes evaluating the impacts of infrastructure projects, programs, and government policies; developing guidebooks; and documenting best practices related to integrated planning, transportation operations, and the environment.

Our team is looking for a Transportation Data Analyst to support data analysis using various data analysis platforms (e.g., Python, R, Microsoft Excel, Databricks, ArcGIS, and PowerBI). The data source will vary from project to project. You would be responsible for data cleaning, data processing, advanced data analysis, and presentation of the results in figures and tables.

In this role, you will have an opportunity to work in a cross-functional team and support data-driven decisions in transportation planning and policy. The candidate will work directly with clients, senior staff, and internal and external experts in their field of expertise.

The successful candidate will have experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Intermediate data analysis and visualization experience using most of the following applications:

  • Flexible coding language (e.g., Python or R)

  • Data visualization platforms (e.g., Power BI, ArcGIS StoryMaps, or Tableau)

  • Spatial analysis (e.g. ArcGIS or QGIS)

  • Advanced applications of Microsoft Excel

  • Familiarity with cloud computing such as Databricks and Snowflake

  • Transportation system performance analysis concepts, including the analysis of system performance data and probe data such as Streetlight, INRIX, and Replica.

  • Transit-related data, including General Transit Feed Specification (GTFS), National Transit Database (NTD), and transit system ridership datasets.

  • Designing and analyzing surveys as well as analyzing national survey datasets, including the National Household Travel Survey (NHTS), and the American Community Survey (ACS)

  • Familiarity with analysis of transportation networks.

  • Transportation data analysis using statistical methods.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant program (e.g., civil engineering, transportation engineering or planning, or a related field), or a minimum of 2+ years of relevant experience. “OR” Master’s degree in civil engineering, transportation engineering or planning, and 1+ years of relevant experience.

  • Proficiency in computer Microsoft Office, advanced Microsoft Excel

  • Skilled with Programming languages (Python, and R)

  • Data visualization platforms (Power BI, Tableau, ArcGIS, StoryMaps)

  • Intermediate data analysis and visualization experience

  • Understanding of transportation data and analysis methods

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience conducting transportation projects for US DOT, TRB, state DOTs, and/or other public sector transportation agencies.

  • Experience with cluster and cloud computing, as well as working with Big Data, such as probe vehicle data.

Additional Professional Skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with experience in report writing and delivering presentations to technical and non-technical audience

  • Use creativity to recommend solutions to challenging problems.

  • Attention to detail and ability to contribute to a positive work environment.

Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position. The pay range for this position is:

$59,837.00 - $101,722.00
