GENERAL SUMMARY

Serve as Program Manager for Energy Northwest’s Industrial Safety Program by providing technical leadership and functional guidance to Energy Northwest personnel to assure prevention of accidents and elimination of safety hazards within the work area.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

Develop, implement, and evaluate programs, policies, and procedures to assure personnel and facility safety. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and industry standards. Review, evaluate and implement suggestions for program, policy, and procedure improvements/changes.

Provide leadership and guidance to Safety Specialists through allocation and coordination of work assignments, monitoring schedules and resolving problems. Train new Safety Specialists.

Promote employee awareness of safety through publications, posters, and development/conduct of industrial safety training.

Develop and implement programs and systems to track and evaluate personnel injury and illness. Conduct trend analysis, audits, accident investigations and site inspections of operational procedures, facility design, equipment, and materials. Analyze data and advise appropriate recommendations to prevent new or recurring accidents.

Direct the inspection and survey of facilities and sites to identify unsafe working conditions. Ensure that safety requirements are included in the design, construction, installation, operation, and maintenance of facility systems.

Maintain working knowledge of current and proposed federal, state, and local regulations and industry standards, and recommend actions in anticipation of potential impacts on operations. Work with external agencies to ensure that industrial safety activities are performed in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations and industry standards.

Interface with Energy Northwest management and staff, INPO, regulators and others regarding industrial safety. Provide advice, instructions, requirements and reports on matters pertaining to employee and facility safety. Represent Energy Northwest at industrial safety workshops and conferences.

Prepare materials for safety meetings for employees and work groups. Provide guidance to safety committees on improving the effectiveness of safety processes.

Conduct ergonomic assessments for agency personnel.

Conduct periodic Fall Protection training as needed.

Must participate on the Emergency Response team (ERO) when designated.

Must support the biennial refueling outage.

REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Requires a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical or business discipline and eight years’ applicable experience in one or more of the following areas: Industrial Safety or Industrial Hygiene, Nuclear Plant Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, Quality Assurance, Business Analysis, Continuous Improvement, Human Behavior, or other technical area.

OR an associate degree from an accredited college or university and ten years’ applicable experience in one or more of the following areas: Industrial Safety or Industrial Hygiene, Nuclear Plant Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, Quality Assurance, Business Analysis, Continuous Improvement, Human Behavior, or other technical area.

OR a high school diploma or GED and twelve years’ experience in one or more of the following areas: Industrial Safety or Industrial Hygiene, Nuclear Plant Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, Corrective Action Program, Quality Assurance, Business Analysis, Continuous Improvement, Human Behavior, or other technical area.

Specialized training in industrial safety practices and WISHA/OSHA regulations and codes.

Pay Range

$119,107.00 - $178,661.00 Annual

Midpoint:

$148,884.00

Typically, selected candidates are hired between the minimum and midpoint of the range, based on applicable experience and qualifications, market rate, internal equity, and budgetary allowances.

Offers will be negotiated based on each candidate's qualifications.

Incentive Compensation

This role may be eligible to participate in our annual incentive plan. Incentives are earned based on employee performance against defined metrics and company goals.
