Ethos Veterinary Health Licensed Veterinary Technician in Richmond, Virginia

Virginia Veterinary Centers is hiring a full- time LVT to join our Radiology team!

This position will be a day shift, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday 8am - 6pm. Compensation is $26 - 28/hr.

Job Requirements:

  • Veterinary Technician License required.

  • Strong communication and client service skills.

  • Proven ability to multi- task in a busy work setting.

  • Strong sense of compassion and empathy for our patients and clients.

  • Strong venipuncture and IV Catheter placing skills.

    Primary Responsibilities:

  • General radiology knowledge including but not limited to: Radiation safety, Radiographic positioning techniques required for multiple species, Radiographic/fluoroscopic special procedure imaging, General radiology knowledge, Special procedures, Radiographic positioning, Image quality control, Pharmacology.

  • Basic knowledge of advanced imaging modalities used for veterinary imaging including: CT, MRI, Ultrasound .

  • Basic knowledge of Routine use and common studies performed, Modality specific safety, Imaging protocols required for specific disease processes, General physics, Common artifacts and signs of equipment failure .

  • Obtain patient vitals and report any abnormalities to DVM.

  • Collecting diagnostic samples, imaging, and non-laboratory diagnostics (BP, EKG, SPO2) for analysis while understanding normal parameter markers to help facilitate in next steps of diagnostic preparation and communication to Veterinarians.

  • Facilitate proper procedure for collecting and submitting diagnostic samples to outside laboratories.

  • Assist in placement and maintenance of intravenous catheters

  • Assist Veterinarians in all aspects prior to and during procedures from developing anesthetic protocol, administration of pre-medications and induction agents, intubation, surgical prep, maintenance and monitoring of general anesthesia, assist in procedure as needed, recovery care of patients post anesthetic episodes, proper medical documentation of anesthesia monitoring, and understanding side effects of anesthetic agents being administered.

  • Understanding and able to follow protocol when administering and documenting controlled substances administered to patients.

  • Calculate and administer IV contrast medications.

  • Understanding and able to follow protocol when administering and documenting controlled substances administered to patients.

  • Practicing patient and empathetic client service skills when communicating with clients at all stages of their visit, such as when triaging, discharging, or providing medical updates on hospitalized patients.

  • Properly discharge patients by filling all required medications, ensuring patients are clean and comfortable, removing intravenous catheters, approving final invoices, and reviewing discharges with pet owners.

  • Understanding and able to perform proper medical record documentation in accordance with hospital policy and the board of veterinary medical standards.

  • Conducting yourself in a professional manner each shift while providing continued support to your team members, patients, and clients.

  • Following proper OSHA protocols and ensure OSHA related trainings are conducted by designated timelines to ensure a safe work environment for yourself and team members.

  • Perform all other duties as assigned by leadership and direct supervisors while on shift.

    Salary:

  • Compensation is based on experience and skill set.

  • $26 - 28/hr. Open to discussion!
