Position Description

PURPOSE: T he Manager Operations is responsible for the oversight and management of petroleum delivery terminals and associated facilities of Kinder Morgan Southeast Terminals. He/she ensures safe, efficient, and economical operation and general maintenance of the terminals and may have responsibilities for associated right of way, pipelines, and pipeline and station equipment. The Manager Operations stewards all expense and associated capital budgets and coordinates and manages the performances of Supervisory and support staff.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Coordinates and manages the performance of direct reports, including supervisors at various levels and support personnel, to safely and efficiently operate and maintain the Terminals and any associated facilities.

• Maintains an up-to-date working knowledge of regulatory and company operating requirements and coordinates activities with regulatory agencies, other company departments, the public, customers/shippers and local emergency response agencies.

• Acts as Incident Commander and Qualified Individual for any emergency responses and as leader of the Emergency Response Team. Coordinates emergency response activities in conjunction with the Director Operations. Activates and coordinates the Crisis Support Team if necessary. May act as the KM spokesperson to the media in the event of an emergency with media coverage.

• Develops, monitors and administers capital and expense budgets.

• Coordinates, prepares or maintains various reports, records, diagrams and other documents concerning maintenance and operations issues, safety, regulatory compliance, and employee administrative issues.

• Coordinates activities of field operations with the Alpharetta Control Center (including quality, pipeline, and customer scheduling) Engineering and Finance Departments.

• Identifies and develops new customers, and functions as local customer contact for Business Development.

• Ensures compliance with applicable laws and regulations including, but not limited to, EPA, OSHA, Process Safety Management, State Environmental Protection Divisions, and Local Fire Departments.

• Administers local and company Facility Security Plans including security assessments and risk aversion.

Position Requirements

EDUCATION

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience at listed job responsibilities

EXPERIENCE/SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE

• Experience with and extensive knowledge and understanding of procedures involved in operating and maintaining liquid terminal facilities, including knowledge of regulatory requirements. Prefer experience with liquid pipeline systems, including knowledge of regulatory requirements.

• Demonstrate initiative and self-motivation.

• Organizational skills to handle a variety of matters simultaneously.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

• Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and be insurable by the company insurance carrier

COMPETENCIES, SKILLS, ABILITIES

• Ability to read and clearly and professionally communicate orally and in writing in English, with coworkers, government officials and Senior Management.

• Ability to lead and manage people in maintaining, changing & improving operations.

• Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

• Ability to accept direction and supervision and work effectively and cooperatively with people.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Work is inside and outside and involves extensive travel to KMST facilities.

• Climb tank stairs, walk on paved, gravel or other even and uneven surfaces.

• See / visual ability to perform various administrative and field inspection tasks

• Hear oral communications and quickly give oral instructions to employees

• Willingness and ability to be on call and report as needed and be able to work extended hours as required in emergencies, equipment or service interruptions, and/or other related circumstances.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

• Coordinates and manages the performances of direct reports including Superintendents, Supervisors and support personnel.
