Job Title: Quality Lab Technician
Job Description
As a Quality Lab Technician, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality of manufactured products by gathering, collecting, inspecting product runs, testing, and measuring parts. You will be responsible for re-milling parts when defects are found and supporting the machining team. Your role will involve heavy documentation, data entry, tracking, and reporting to ensure all quality-related information is accurately recorded before products are shipped.
Responsibilities
Re-mill parts when defects are identified.
Gather, collect, and inspect product runs across the facility.
Test and measure manufactured parts and re-mill errors discovered.
Monitor machine dies and internal components during machine run times.
Perform all quality functions to support the quality lab including testing, documenting, measuring, machining, and re-testing products.
Conduct heavy documentation, data entry, data tracking, and reporting.
Ensure products meet specifications before final staging.
Re-set machine programs and work closely with all phases of the smaller staff.
Inspect dies with manual and digital tools.
Operate lab equipment for testing and visual inspections.
Use precision measurement tools including calipers, micrometers, and squares to check dimensions.
Perform kitting and assembly of dies and operate overhead cranes.
Cross-train to run other products and perform housekeeping and general labor duties as necessary.
Essential Skills
3-5 years of experience in a Quality Lab Technician and Metal Fabrication role.
Mechanical skills and precision measurement experience.
Experience with mill and machine operations.
Proficiency in reading blueprints and using precision measurement tools such as calipers and micrometers.
Experience in troubleshooting and inspection of parts.
Proficiency in data entry using Excel.
Knowledge of metal, quality assurance, CNC machinery, and manufacturing.
Experience in quality inspection, quality control, and using measurement equipment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Testing experience in the metal industry.
Flexibility to work both day and night shifts.
Ability to work in a union environment.
Willingness to work Saturdays as needed.

Work Environment
This is a union environment where you may be exposed to work near moving mechanical parts, heat in excess of 80 degrees, cold less than 40 degrees, and noise in excess of 85 decibels. The role requires flexibility with shifts, including split shifts and occasional Saturday work. You will be part of a team that overlaps shifts to ensure continuous operation and help catch up on orders.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of RICHMOND, Virginia.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $26.44 - $26.44/hr.
