Monroe Community College Student Assistant - STAC (Student Technology Advancement Center) in Rochester, New York

Function of Position:

Reporting to the coordinator of the STAC (Student Technology Advancement Center), student Assistants are current MCC students who will work on the Downtown or Brighton Campus. The position supports student technology training.

This position assists in creating and presenting training for current students on instructional technologies such as Microsoft 365, Brightspace, and the myMCC portal.

The STAC workshop area is in the Brighton campus library and in the Learning Commons on the Downtown campus. It is open 9:30am- 2pm Monday through Friday. Some evening and weekend hours may be required.

Examples of Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Administrative tasks such as copying, running errands, and answering emails; and participating in classrooms and student clubs/organizations/groups presentations as needed.

  • Complete projects and tasks as assigned, and participate in outreach events.

    Job Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

  • Current MCC Student

  • Comfortable using web-based technologies

  • Experienced user of the following Microsoft products- Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams and Outlook.

  • Familiar with the myMCC portal and Brightspace

  • Strong written and verbal communications skills

  • Independent worker with strong problem-solving skills

  • Comfortable presenting information to peers one-on-one and in group settings

  • Well organized, punctual, and versed in key utilization of time management skills

  • Customer-service focused

  • Patient with learners with the ability to not show frustration

  • Reliable transportation to and from campus

    Additional Information:

Pay Rate: $15/hr

Hours per week: Part-time, average 10 hours per week. Must be available to work during the department's business hours (Monday - Friday 9am-2:30pm). Occasional evening and weekend availability is preferred.
