Clinical Laboratory Assistant (Lab Processor) – Laboratory Department

Work location: Texas Health Rockwall -6150 Horizon Rd. Rockwall, Tx 75032 within the ER and Main Lab

Work hours: Full Time Days (5:00am-3:30pm) for 36 hrs/week. 7 days on, 7 days off

Here’s What You Need

  • H.S. Diploma or Equivalent is required

  • Other - CLIAFE Must comply with CLIA regulations regarding foreign education equivalency is required

  • 6 Months experience as a phlebotomist or completion of a one semester course in phlebotomy is preferred

  • PBT(ASCP) - Phlebotomy Technician Upon Hire is preferred

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to function in a fast-paced environment. Strong critical thinking, problem solving and organizational skills. Proficient in basic computer skills. Prefer: Venipuncture skills with all age groups.

What You Will Do

  • For those entities performing phlebotomy; employee follows laboratory procedure for specimen collection, patient identification and labeling as appropriate for the age of the patient

  • Follows established laboratory test procedures

  • Performs procedures in other areas of the Laboratory as required by hospital entity

  • Processes specimens

  • Participates in orientation and training of students, volunteers, new employees, and observers

  • Maintains commitment to profession by attending continuing education sessions. (ex. Web seminars, ASCP seminars, Tarleton and Lab sponsored seminars by industry)

  • Quality control and equipment maintenance documentation is in compliance with all departmental quality control procedures and all regulatory guidelines
