THE POSITION

Temporary Fair Complex Worker 1

Temporary on-call positions work as needed, non-benefited, no guarantee of hours

August 07 - 10, 2024

Performs basic manual tasks related to cleaning and restocking bathrooms, emptying garbage containers, cleaning the grounds, sweeping and mopping building floors, and answering questions from the public.

Requires regular and consistent attendance.

Hours may vary according to job assignments. Approximate work shifts are as follows:

Restroom Clean-up:Noon to 8:30 p.m., 1:00pm to 9:30 p.m., 2:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.

Janitorial Crew: 6:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Qualifications: Any combination of course work, experience and/or training that provides necessary knowledge, skills and ability necessary to perform the duties of the position.

Clean-up and Garbage Detail workers must be at least 16 years of age as hours may go beyond 9 p.m. and/or longer than eight hours.

Physical Demands:Works in an indoor or outdoor environment with exposure to sun and outside temperature extremes, dust, pollen, bee stings and limited noxious odors. Requires bending, gripping with hands and fingers, hearing voice conversation, kneeling, lifting and carrying up to 60 pounds, pulling, pushing, reaching, standing for long periods of time, stooping, twisting body, and walking. May require wearing rubber or plastic gloves.

This position works on-call, as needed with no General County benefits. Position not eligible for vacation accrual,**sick leave accrual, holidays or any other General County benefit afforded to a position budgeted to work 20 hours or more per week.

Part-time employees budgeted less than .50, and temporary employees, shall be front loaded up to a maximum of 40 hours of annual sick leave, that may be used for qualifying reasons as set forth in Oregon's Sick Leave Law as amended from time to time. Front loaded sick leave may be pro-rated in the manner described in this rule (see table listed in rule (http://www.co.douglas.or.us/hr/personnel_rules/rules/rule_09.asp#9.3) ). Sick leave hours do not accrue or carry forward from one year to the next. For the purpose of this provision of the sick leave rule, a "year" is the Fiscal Year from July 1 to June 30. Once the Fiscal Year has started, newly hired part-time/on-call/temporary employees shall not be eligible to use sick leave until their 91st day of employment, unless otherwise required by law.
