Position Summary:

The Product Owner – Business Intelligence is responsible for maximizing the value of our Business Intelligence and Analytics solutions by aligning the team’s technical direction, strategy, prioritization, design, development, and readiness to enable our business partners goals and deliver on their strategic initiatives. Our business partners will not only include traditional departments like Finance, Sales, and Supply Chain, but also Data Science and other Analytics teams focused on growing and optimizing our business. Our solutions will not only include Business Intelligence and Analytics Dashboards, but also providing data to be used as part of strategic integrated applications and by business partner Power Users that will create their own reporting.

Position Responsibilities may include, but not limited to:

  • Maximizes the value of our Business Intelligence and Analytics solutions

  • Engages with key business stakeholders to understand their business strategies and goals

  • Educates Business Intelligence team with regards to business strategies and goals

  • Prioritizes and aligns Business Intelligence team’s work appropriately against business strategies and goals

  • Creates inventory of and mapping current state solutions identifying any product gaps

  • Develops product / solution roadmaps and timelines to address product gaps and that align to business strategies and goals

  • Maintains clear / transparent product backlog understandable by both the business and SCRUM team

  • Ensures SCRUM Team understands business value of each backlog item and how it relates back to business strategies and goals

  • Works with SCRUM Master empowers team to determine reasonable work load each sprint

  • Evangelizes BI Solutions to encourage and maximize adoption

  • Educates business stakeholders with regards to Agile and SCRUM practices

  • Participates in all SCRUM ceremonies

  • Leads transparent governance process that allows all business stakeholders to jointly assist in prioritization of future work

  • Communicates consistently with business stakeholders to ensure understanding of SCRUM Team’s status

  • Looks externally at competition and tracks both external and future trends to refactor product roadmaps

  • Other projects or duties as assigned

Qualifications

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or in a related discipline

  • 5+ years of general IT experience

  • Ability to present and communicate to business stakeholders including executive leadership

  • Ability to debate with, push back on, and negotiate with business leadership

  • Track record of taking ownership and successfully delivering results in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

  • Strong knowledge of agile development practices, methodologies, and tools

  • Direct hands-on experience with writing user stories, refining product backlogs, and coordinating/prioritizing conflicting requirements in fast past paced and changing environment

  • Proven management of complex product development cycles and highly technical solutions

  • Detail-oriented and reliable

  • Ability to quickly assimilate including the willingness to learn new technologies; possess a proactive, entrepreneurial spirit

  • Ability to interact with customers and coworkers and demonstrate respect and responsiveness

  • Ability to resist temptation to do the hands-on technical work themselves

  • Strong team player

  • Ability to motivate and influence others

  • Exceptional writing and communication skills

  • Willingness to travel up to 25%

  • This position must pass a post-offer background and drug test

    Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Prior experience as a Product Owner or Product Manager

  • Scrum certifications especially Product Owner

  • Prior experience in the Business Intelligence and Data Warehousing space with knowledge of ETL and Reporting tools

  • Experience in Azure, ADF, Snowflake, and Power BI

  • SQL skills

  • Data modeling and profiling skills
