The primary purpose of the Instructional Designer – Technical/Engineering Focus

is to create and develop engaging learning programs in a variety of modalities. This position is responsible for the knowledge transfer for topics which will vary across business unit portfolios to support new offerings and certification programs, requiring a balance of creativity, sales enablement, and technical skills. The incumbent may undertake the entire training cycle, including all planning activities, establishing course objectives, identification of audience, determining delivery methods, working with Subject Matter Experts throughout the process, development of course content, and course evaluation. This role will require professional instructional design (ID) and development competency for global delivery.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for end-to-end solution sales enablement and technical program facilitation to target audience groups.

  • Responsible to design, develop and maintain course curriculum for Solution Selling and technical certifications across various Services & Solutions business disciplines.

  • Develop working relationships and engagement with Program Managers, Marketing Leads, Subject Matter Experts and other knowledge center teaching team members to design and maintain top quality courses

  • Work with internal templates and have strong knowledge of industry standards and innovation of various methods for quality learning.

  • Adapt, design, and develop all instructional materials including user guides, tutorials, storyboards, scripts, course content (including simulations, role play activities, gamification, etc.) pre and posttests, and student and facilitator directions for blended learning solutions to be offered in the Learning Management System (LMS).

  • Work with various modalities such as instructor-led (ILT,) on-line (OLT,) blended learning and video.

  • Must follow existing defined processes and procedures that are present within the internal organization.

  • Stay abreast of organizational strategy, performance, and challenges.

Qualifications:

Minimum Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in training, adult learning, or a related field

  • 2 years of related experience as an Instructional Designer with a Technical/Engineering focus or related

Preferred Experience:

  • Master’s degree in training, adult learning, or a related field and no related work experience

  • Experience and/or degree in Machine Vision, Mechanical, Electrical, Robotics, or Computer Science preferred

  • Preferred experience with content development in engineering/tech-heavy environments

  • Familiarity with LMS platforms, multimedia production, and project management

  • Understanding of industrial automation or manufacting processes is a plus

Key Skills and Competencies:

  • Ability to design, develop and manage projects from inception to completion

  • Ability to build and maintain working relationships with SMEs

  • Ability to craft an engaging visual narrative

  • Proficient with Captivate, Storyline, Camtasia, or other authoring tools
