The Employment Relations Board (ERB) is seeking an Administrative Law Judge 3 (ALJ) to play a pivotal role in conducting contested case hearings and drafting orders primarily for public-sector labor disputes across the state. As a quasi-judicial agency, ERB serves as Oregon\'s labor law \"court,\" adjudicating labor disputes primarily in the public sector, including state agencies, local governments, and special districts. What You\'ll Do: In this Administrative Law Judge (ALJ) role, you will manage and process a docket of assigned cases filed with the ERB under the various statutes that the ERB administers. The ALJ provides the Board with the necessary framework to evaluate and render a final decision on contested matters in accordance with applicable statutes and Board policy, precedent, and procedures. Working alongside a three-member Board, fellow ALJs, Mediators, and agency staff, you will engage with primarily public employers, unions, and public employees to administer Oregon labor laws concerning collective bargaining and State disciplinary appeals. Duties include: Conduct contested case hearings, evaluate evidence, and issue legal rulings and recommendations. Investigate unfair labor practice complaints, representation petitions, and State disciplinary appeals. Rule on evidentiary motions, pre-trial matters, and case dismissals. Research labor law precedents and contribute to legal interpretations and agency policies. Engage with unions, employers, and employees in processing cases.
