Responsibilities

Our FAMILY NURSE PRACTIONER is a professional registered nurse with advanced education and training in the primary care of adult and pediatric populations. The nurse practitioner is responsible for providing medical care to patients under the medical supervision of the Clinic Medical Director/designee. The nurse practitioner is also directed by standardized protocols and procedures which are appropriate to patient age. This position is credentialed through the Medical Staff. There is ongoing collaboration with the Mark Twain Medical Center Medical Staff and other specialists in the area. This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the Mission of the Organization. It is expected that the employee demonstrate behavior consistent with the Core Values.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Conduct comprehensive assessments, including history-taking and physical exams, to evaluate dermatological conditions.

  2. Diagnose common skin conditions such as acne, eczema, psoriasis, rosacea, rashes, and other dermatological diseases. Develop treatment plans, including prescribing medications and recommending appropriate treatments or referrals.

  3. Perform minor dermatological procedures such as cryotherapy, excisions, biopsies, and skin lesion removals as necessary.

  4. Provide clear and thorough explanations about skin health, treatment options, and preventive care (e.g., sun protection, skincare routines).

  5. Work closely with the Family Physician to ensure comprehensive patient care, including discussing complex cases and treatment adjustments as needed.

  6. Maintain accurate, timely, and complete patient records in accordance with clinic policies and relevant regulations.

  7. Monitor patient progress and modify treatment plans as needed. Provide follow-up care instructions to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

  8. Stay current on advancements in dermatology and maintain professional development through ongoing education, certifications, and training.

Qualifications

Education

  • Master’s degree in Nursing (MSN) with a specialization as a Nurse Practitioner.

  • Additional Dermatology certification preferred.

Licensure

  • Current California Nurse Practitioner license and Current DEA license.

Certifications

  • Dermatology Certified Nurse Practitioner (DCNP) is required. National certification as a Family, Adult, Pediatric or Geriatric Nurse Practitioner.

  • Current BLS required, from AHA

Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in dermatology, with a strong background in general dermatology practices and patient care
